Tonight a perfect example of why I dislike guest conductors

It's bad enough they have extended this gimmick since 1998, but the television interviews afterwards in the bottom of the 7th can be awkward. I guess for the few good ones, you get quite a few bad ones.

Tonight with Drew Barrymore with Len and Bob was just plain awkward and uncomfortable to listen to. The inning would never end (which was a good thing since we were batting), but finally with still only one out, Len must had gotten word from production to let her go.

I wouldn't mind if they did the guest conductor bit on Sunday home games or something like that, but seriously, why can't we just let Ron Santo do it each game now?

I was reading TheCubReporter blog, and him being a season ticket holder was invited to a forum with all the Cubs execs. I guess a ton of people expressed similar sentiment so at least the management knows that a majority of Cubs fans dislike the practice. I think it's more of a business decision for the Cubs because as much as the fans don't like it, having celebs consistently wanting to come to Cubs games and sing the 7th inning stretch is a good thing for them. Every time someone goes crazy and butchers the song and it ends up on Sportscenter, it's a good thing for the Cubs marketability.

Fully understand it's good for marketing. And I won't lie... I go to the games and I still sing along.

My White Stockings fan friend was with me at Sunday's game and was making fun of me saying that Stocking fans would never sing along to such a lame song. He never did reply to my email the next day when I sent him the YouTube vid of Harry Caray conducting the 7th inning stretch at the old Comiskey Park.

It's funny because the white stockings never played in comiskey park.

I refer to the "White Sox" as the White Stockings... probably dumb on my part, but it has riled up Sox fans because I am disrespecting them. To be honest, I do like the southside team, but not their fans because of their obsession with us.

I wouldn't mind the guest conductor if they'd just do away with the interviews in the bottom of the 7th. Sitting through a minute or whatever it takes to sing wouldn't be so bad, but during the game I actually want the announcers to be talking about the game.

This. I could really care less who they have sing the stretch. Hell, I can change the channel if I don't want to see it. The interviews (both radio and TV) are absolutely brutal about 80% of the time. It's not really the fault of Pat, Ron, Len or Bob. They usually just don't have anything to talk about except pimping some stupid project I don't care about.

i agree with this sentiment, problem with it is that not being able to plug whatever movie/book/tv show they are releasing would take away the incentive for most of these people.

If you think she was bad on TV, you should have heard her on the radio with Pat & Ron.

I could not believe how ridiculous she sounded.....could not believe it. And she went on and on and on and on......

Did you know she really, really, loves words....and read the dictionary a a child?

She was really happy that everyone could take time out of their extraordinary lives to share such an amazing social experience too.

Yeah tonight did it for me

WOW

Wow is right. Dreyfus was on another planet. He knew nothing about baseball and most of his random comments made absolutely no sense.

Was at the game last night and bumped into Dreyfus. He was totally wasted.

He had a legendary (even by Hollywood standards) drug problem.
