Bowden just mentioned something I wanted to mention. They Hawks are not taking the stupid/lazy penalties like they have been for many of the past years. You've got to wonder how much of that is the immediate accountability Q put on guys like Kane last year when he sat them in close games due to offensive zone lazy hooks and trips. Staying out of the box has obviously really helped. Wonder if teams are going to start trying to mix things up a bit more to slow the game down.

That's a great point. The goaltending situation being what it is, this team absolutely has to stay out of the box. I've seen Kane take one of those lazy penalties this year, but that's about it.

Listened to the entire game in the car last night. Can't speak to Huet's play, but 13 shots is 13 shots. He wasn't tested. Love the domination in the offensive end. Despite the questions about Huet/Niemi, this team has moved up to the elite level.

I haven't checked every game's stats, but it seems like every time I see the shots stat it shows the Hawks with a sizeable advantage.

I'm loving that. Just keep out shooting teams.

I decided to take a look at the shots on goal numbers for this year...

Outshot FLA 55-24 (lost 4-3 in shootout)

Outshot FLA 33-23 (won 4-0)

Outshot DET 34-23 (lost 3-2)

Outshot COL 26-19 (won 4-3 in shootout)

Outshot CAL 39-20 (won 6-5 in OT)

Outshot EDM 38-19 (won 4-3)

Outshot NAS 30-13 (won 3-1)

So they are outshooting their opponents 255-141 this year, averaging 36.4 shots per game while giving up 20.1 shots. You're not going to have many big losing streaks with a shot margin like that.

I can't believe the Hawks lost that first game. The shot disparity is unbelievable.

We're going to need a goalie. We can't wait for this guy to right his ship.

how are we going to get a goalie? we're stuck with him.

We need to explore some trade possibilities.

i blame huet for the oter softy, but i can't blame him for the 4th goal. that's just ridiculously bad luck. that puck looked like an onside kick at the end.

Really hoping Huet turns it around. It'll be tough to pick up a goaltender and/or eat his contract. It seems so mental with him. I know we have the right to boo him, but that really isn't going to help anything. He has zero confidence, but unfortunately we may be stuck with him. Booing him is certainly understandable and he's got me swearing up a storm when watching on TV sometimes, but it isn't likely to change anything. Cue the "fans have a right to boo" debate.

I've also got to wonder if the fact that he isn't getting tested often has caused him to be lackluster at keeping sharp. Some of these goals look kind of like he isn't even paying attention.

I disagree about the booing, and it's not just because we have the right. Which we do. But the fans need to show their displeasure to bring more pressure to bear on the organization to get rid of that spaghetti-spined frog and bring in a goaltender worthy of this team.

I'm pretty sure the organization knows the fans can't stand him at this point. The media putting Niemi on the front page certainly stirs the pot as well. All I'm saying is, if we're stuck with him...I'd rather shut my trap and hope the guy can turn it around. I'd gain more satisfaction from that than I would booing and him continuing to stink.

If there was any direct correlation between the booing and his sucking, I would agree with you. If we all bring him daisies, he's still going to suck.

And I'm not convinced we're stuck with him. Even if it means parting with one of our offensive pieces to clear cap room, a move has to be made.
