I read a couple blurbs about it, and apparently Versus didn't get what they were asking for.

It probably doesn't make sense but I was thinking it was all about Comcast embarrassing rival directv or getting directv subscribers upset with their provider.

I read speculation about that motive a few months ago. As I understand it Vs. just stays exactly where it was. Is that on a sports tier? I have all the sports channels (RSNs, etc.) so I don't know what is on what package.

I looked back a little way and didn't see it posted:

Ovechkin was suspended for 2 games for the Campbell hit.

And most of the opinion I've read was that it wasn't warranted. I agree.

I hate it when the NHL looks at the outcome of a play to decide the punishment. No question, if Campbell had gotten up and not been hurt, Ovie would not have been suspended. That's ass backwards.

I understand that sentiment, but I don't understanding how people can claim that wasn't a dirty hit, and that sort of thing shouldn't be punished. You shouldn't be able to shove a guy from behind into the boards. There's plenty of opportunity for big clean hits throughout the game, and any claims that this is a softening of the game is nonsense. Also, I have to say I don't have a problem with the punishment depending on the severity of the results of your actions. It happens all the time in all walks of life. You want to play like a jackass, well, you are going to be liable in some way shape or form for the consequences of your actions.

Do you think Ovechkin's history played into it as well? I don't watch him all the time, but from what I understand this isn't the first time for him.

It's 603, up near all the random sports sites and just before all the RSN's, so I assume it is part of that sports tier. I thought Comcast was asking for more money per subscriber for the channel, as that has been the case in several content vs provider disagreements lately.

I think it all played a part, the act itself, the results, and the reputation. Troublemakers are always going to be at greater risk of punishment, that's how it works. If you do something stupid and nothing bad happens, you will have an easier time than if you do something stupid and something bad does happen.

If the Hawks would have won the game I bet you it would have only been a 1 game suspension also. I don't think it is that hard to come up with a consistent punishment system for these types of incidents.

I do not have the sports tier, but I get Versus.

Directv? So do you get all the channels in the 600-610 range?

I just checked them all, I get:

603 Vs

607 Speed

608 Hunting

610 Big 10

I have had the same package for 3 and a half years now, I think I may get these due them being grandfathered in.

I read through a Sharks board this morning. Bad Goaltending, defensive breakdowns, bad coaching, oh know Detroit is going to kill us in the playoffs. Sounded familiar

I'd be panicked if my team had the best record in hockey last year and lost in the first round too. You are going to worry about everything until you get over the hump.

Hawks fans are panicking becuase they are Chicago sports fans, who in general, panick about everything and anything.

Yeah, truth is the until 97 the Wings were similar to the Sharks. I wonder if what the Sharks need is an enemy, like the Avs became for the Wings, to motivate them to get over the top.
