That's right, jump down my throat because I still cheer for them. Hey, I came here because I thought it was a place where people rooted for the Cubs, not ripped them at every opportunity. My mistake.

Are you not reading anything anyone here is saying? No one is ripping you for cheering for the Cubs. You want to stay positive? Have at it.

You're the one ripping everyone else for not being blindly optimistic.

Well, I didn't appreciate being called a jerk for suggesting that people should cheer for the Cubs instead of rip them.

You didn't suggest it. You practically demanded it. Now, I'm not going to speak for jersey about why he said what he said, but if I had to guess, it's because you pretty much implied that everyone who isn't as optimistic as you might as well be a Cardinals fan.

No problem, happens all the time.

You want the next door on the left.

The beauty of this board and baseball in general is you can enjoy it in any way that makes you happy. If you want to be really optimistic with this team please keep posting as I'm sure some people would love the injection of confidence. If you think that this season is about done, then post things like that. The world is your oyster.

Let this sink in KBF. You can be all sides of the fan spectrum here and find someone who'll be right there with you. We'll respect you being optimistic, just as you should respect some of us have had our hearts broken so many times that we just can't do it when we are 9 games back on August 28th.

Relax and enjoy the game:)

Here' what I'm saying: When you come here for the first time, it READS like you've landed in a pack of Cardinals fans. The cynicism and disgust and outright hostility for the Cubs is, like I said, astonishing. It surprised me, frankly. I realize this season hasn't gone the way we wanted it to, but I didn't realize how angry and mean-spirited people are about it.

I always considered Cubs fans to be pretty true-blue despite the won-loss record. It's not a big deal, I was just surprised, that's all.

We're still watching this game right? How much more true-blue can we get here?

When you do, do you go with grass skirts?

Na, I'm allergic to grass. I generally use some kind of animal hyde.

Again, no one here is saying they're giving up on the Cubs for all eternity. Most people just realize that the chances of this team turning it around and making the postseason are slim at best. No one here is hoping the Cubs don't make it. A lot of people just realize it's most likely not going to happen.

And frankly, the way this team has played, there's reason for disgust. This is a team that should be challenging for the division lead. Instead, they're nine games back with a little over a month to go. Some of the problems are due to nagging injuries, but a larger part of the problem is that this team simply has not played well.

Soriano sure did take a nice route on that one. Just DL/bench him already. Watching this [expletive] is making me miserable, yet I'll keep watching.

My big thing is our guys who aren't hitting can't catch the ball. Half of us can play the outfield better than Soriano.

Agreed. I would love us to make a much bigger commitment to some defense this offseason. Which will require getting rid of Soriano or Bradley and moving Riot to 2nd...as a start at least. Maybe one of those three will happen if lucky
