Rockies DFA Matt Murton

Recommended Posts

I just saw this on mlbtraderumors. It sucks because he played the game the right way.

poorly?

I wouldn't want him back on my team or anything but he did put in a lot of effort. There was a point that it looked like he should be playing and wasn't. You didn't hear complaining from him about it. He just took his opportunities when he could and was quiet about it.

I thought there were quite a few quotes about him being disappointed about the lack of opportunities.

Matt Murton should still be able to be an everyday player for at least one team in the majors, he just needs to be sent to that team instead of teams with logjams in the outfield. He's still servicable, I'm sure. Not anything spectacular, but a decent enough bat to warrant playing time. He really isn't getting a fair shake at the major league level, it's unfortunate

I read an article today that had a quote from him about there being a lack of opportunities, but it was matter of fact, not whining. I don't think he's probably thrilled to be OPS'ing .900 in AAA for the 3rd time. Would you expect him to be thrilled about it?

Well that's just ignorant.

I'll rephrase

mediocrely?

mediocre and poor are not the same thing. so technically you are restating not rephrasing.

his career line is solidly above league averages, so poorly doesn't really seem justified.

hence the restatement I guess. if you are looking for a power hitting corner outfielder then I guess you could squeeze him in mediocre.

If they gave me a chance, I'd put in more effort than Matt Murton. I'd probably never hit the ball out of the infield, but I'd try like the dickens. Would you mourn my designation for assignment if I didn't complain about it?

I don't know. Are you left handed?
