our "ace" has missed almost a month when this is over with injuries, our best pitcher this year is hurt for 3 weeks, our most consistent pitcher last year has battled injuries and ineffectiveness, our pitcher with supposedly the most talent has been wildly inconsistent. And that doesn't even include significant injuries to Soto, Ramirez and Johnson.

I guess in the interest of fairness, Bradley has amazingly stayed healthy, soriano has been healthy all year, we got amazing unexpected contributions from Wells and Hart for awhile. So it isn't all negative, but it's been a weird season.

They would almost certainly make this retroactive to August 1st, wouldn't they?
I'm sure they would (although it would actually be Aug. 2 since he pitched Aug. 1). I can't think of any reason not to. By doing so he'd only need to miss one more start if he's ready by then.

Tom Gorzelanny, your table is ready
His table was already set (he's filling in for Lilly since Hart was traded). Someone else needs to fill in for Zambrano.

That's it, unless Lou decided to go with Samardzija instead of Marshall next time through.

Wouldn't surprise me. I think the the thing that's even worse than losing Z for 1-3 starts, is the fact Samardzija continues to hold a spot on the 25 man roster when he has no business being in the big leagues right now.

I think it's hilarious how Harden as been one of our healthiest pitchers this year. Who would've seen that coming?

*knock on wood*

Yea, we expected Harden to be extremely effective, but injured much of the time. Instead he has been healthy and ineffective.

Lately he's been healthy and effective. He's been very good since the All-Star break.

Not so much his last outing.

True (although it wasn't really a bad start either; I'd call it so-so). On the whole, though, he's been much better since the break.

Clearly Lou is just pissed that Zambrano hung them out to dry after refusing treatment before his last start. This is a "you won't do me like that again" DLing.

Wells is going to end up being our best pitcher this year. Who woulda thunk?

Today's outing had to hurt Wells' ROY votes. Also, Jeff Stevens looked good early, but ended up getting beat up!
