We should all thank Harang for being terrible.

He never used to be, though. I always wanted the Cubs to trade for him at the deadline. He was one of my favorite non-Cub pitchers for a while.

He was great until Dusty starting forcing him to throw 120+ pitches every start.

With a lot of pitchers, injuries happen and it's hard to point to an exact "Aha!" point where it all went wrong. But not with Harang. He pitched a regularly scheduled start, came out of the bullpen and threw 4 (I think) innings a couple days later and then made his regularly scheduled start a couple of days later.

His ERA before that relief appearance was sub 4.00 and going south every season. After that relief appearance, well, you get the Harang that you have now.

I will now agree with IMB.

Mark this on your calendars.

If I was Cueto, I'd be looking to get out of Cincinnati the first chance I got.

I'm falling in love with Randy Wells. I know he's not this good, but I think he's going to end up as a solid starter that gets a lot of groundballs and doesn't walk many. That's nice to watch.

McCutchen just went deep again for the Pirates.

I don't follow the minors, really, especially for teams other than the Cubs. Was he always a good prospect, or did he just come out of nowhere?

He'll be a very solid #3 or 4.

He was definitely a good prospect.

He's legit.

yeah, he's been on the radar for a few seasons now. I thought he'd be up last year, actually

Put a decent defense behind him, and I think he's easily above league average.

For Wells more than any other Cub, the decent defense is key.

Yup, exactly. And I think that's why I like him. The guy challenges hitters (throws a ton of strikes), and has just good enough stuff to do it. Reminds me of Lilly in that way.

Lilly's strikeout numbers void that comparison. I think a right handed Mark Buehrle is more accurate. Not as good, but the same mold.

AFLAC Trivia Question on the Reds telecast: What was the last team to make the playoffs after being dead last in the majors with RISP?
Posted
Just for once I'd like to see Bradley step up to a right handed pitcher and bat right handed.

Just for once, I'd like Milton not to be late on a fastball

I had no idea mark reynolds has 32 taters.

Cripes. Dude strikes out a TON though. But still, he could hit 50 this year. That's nuts.

I noticed that the other day too. I think he struck over 200 times last year and is on pace to do it again.

I assume he has the season record??

they have these terrible "bumps" on FSN Ohio with Reds players simply saying "You're watching the Reds on Fox Sports Ohio". So why can I see their eyes reading the cue cards? IS IT SO HARD TO MEMORIZE?
