Okay, so I'm drunk and only saw on ESPN's Bottomline at the bar that Aramis and Z both left to injuries. I know it's back for Z and elbow for Aramis. What are the diagnosis so far? Anyone say anything about how long they could be out? I don't feel like sifting through the game thread.

Zambrano says he fully expects to get treatment on his back and make his next start; doesn't sound serious.

Aramis sounds like he left due to dizziness from the pain; his injury also does not sound serious and I believe he's unofficially day-to-day and will be evaluated tomorrow.

Aramis got hit on the elbow by a pitch but he stayed in the game until he ran around to 3rd base and he was acting weird like he was going to pass out. I don't think he left the game due to his HBP ouchie. Maybe he was just dehydrated or something.

That's what I am thinking with ARam. I think ARam will be restricted to pinch-hitting duties on Sunday with Fox playing third.

No to Fox playing third. They need to catch him; Hill needs a day off. Fontenot and Baker at second and third.

I get that Koyie Hill needs a break, I really do, but I don't trust Fox catching Dempster making his 2nd start off the DL. I really don't. I also don't think Piniella wants to do that. I know it would be a inconvienence to Iowa, but getting a guy like Chris Robinson up to relive Hill for at least 2 games in Cincinnati is prolly a better deal for the Cubs then having Fox masquerading as a C.

Hill has made it this far, he can make it a few more games. Soto will be back by Thursday and then Hill can get all the rest he needs.

Ramirez was hit by a pitch on his left arm after Lee's homer. He stayed in, and advanced on a sacrifice but then walked toward the Cubs dugout and had to be helped off the field by the Cubs athletic trainers.

"He got hit pretty good and I think he was getting dizzy," Lee said. "Hopefully, he's all right tomorrow."

"He's OK," Piniella said of Ramirez, who missed two months because of a dislocated left shoulder. "We'll see how he feels [sunday]. It hit him in the meat portion of his arm."

Quote:

"Zambrano said his back was stiff, so we had to get him out of the game," Piniella said.

The Cubs starter lasted three innings and threw just 62 pitches. Piniella had gone to the mound to talk to him when the Marlins had one on and two outs in the third, but the pitcher finished the inning. Zambrano also hit Hanley Ramirez on the left knee in the third, and the Marlins' shortstop had to leave the game with a contusion.

"It's nothing to worry about," Zambrano said of his back. "It's just a tight back and I have to treat it and be ready for my next start."

The right-hander said he was feeling some discomfort the whole game

These were both posted in the game thread, so Im not too worried

I didn't see the game last night, but I know that I sometimes feel a little sick to my stomach/woozy whenever something hits me just right on the elbow. Maybe this happened to ARam. It seems to be worse a few minutes after it happens than right after I get hit.

does hill get any sort of bonus for the overtime he's putting in lately?

this isnt a serious question is it?

not really, i mean i know he's not owed anything. but he's only making the minimum, so you think one of the 8 figure guys or the organization could throw him a little extra.

I give Hill credit and respect him for being out there every single day, but his production is barely worthy of the league minimum salary and I'm sure he is happy to be making that.

so your saying that a player making league minimum should be given compensation for getting playing time? Ryan Theriots making near minumum. Randy Wells too.

Not that I agree, but catching everyday is a different animal. That said, Hill is fortunate he's playing.

just seems like he's really taking one for the team. i cant remember a team using just one catcher for an entire month like this, including day games and double headers in july for that matter. his OPS dropped 90 points, not that he was ever much of a hitter. i was curious if the team did anything for him, other than what they were obligated to. just seems he's doing something extraordinary

/end thread jack

any !ram news on the broadcast today?

''I just got dizzy and couldn't stay in the game,'' said Ramirez, who was hit by a pitch on the forearm bone near his left elbow and stayed in the game for two more batters before taking himself out. ''I tried to stay in. I don't know how that happened. The doctor said it was because of the pain. But I've had worse pain, and that never happened.''
