Reports from Heyman and Rosenthal are the Rays are strongly pursuing Cliff Lee and Victor Martinez, and are trying to get a third team involved.

How bout we offer to help and give the Indians Jeff Stevens and John Gaub?

I guess Victor Martinez is available after all.

Of course, Hendry's too busy pulling it to get in on that.

Yeah, let's trade Vitters so we can have a catcher for 3 weeks.

We might not have to give Vitters, but we may have to give Soto + good prospects for him.

You must have some amazing access to know which deals Hendry is or isn't pursuing. Its fine to criticize him if you feel it is warranted, but Hendry has proven to be aggressive in the past in making in season trades.

The value of getting Martinez to replace Hill (in place of Soto) for 3 or 4 weeks might be one win. To give up anything in such a deal would be awful, so if Hendry isn't "in on that" then he is doing the right thing.

Only? I would definitely not make that trade

I didn't say only. I wasn't advocating it.

No problem. I can see where you could get the idea I was in favor of it, though.

I'd love to have Martinez, but I don't think he'd fit anywhere.

Ahhh, the Edwin Jackson trade in the offseason was just the first in a series of moves to acquire a starting pitcher.

nobody thought edwin jackson would be this good though... even edwin jackson didn't think so.

ok, so they either thought that five years ago and changed their opinion, or they're the type of people who still think that jason dubois and corey patterson still have some nice upside.

who cares. gary matthews jr is awful, and so is patterson. a ton of horrible players have great tools and talent.

corey patterson has proven that he sucks.
