next year is also his contract year, and at 32, he may have one more biggish contract left in him, so we could benefit from him having a big walk year next year.

Milton Bradley disagrees.

But yeah I agree, they're a myth.

Was it sunnydoo that was all ga-ga for Sanchez?

Wrong Sanchez. Wasn't that Alex Sanchez he was ga-ga for?

uggggggggggh alex sanchez. the cubs could not get him out for some reason.

actually maybe that's why sunnydoo would have wanted him so much, he only saw him play against the cubs and therefore thought he was awesome.

or more likely it's because sunnydoo was mentally ill.

Nothing wrong with signing guys that we can never get out. If not, we never would have gotten Jeff Blauser or Aaron Miles. Im sure we'll one day end up with Nyjer Morgan, long after his legs have failed him.

I can't wait to see a 400 lb. Carlos Lee manning RF in 2013.....

Am I the only one who isn't that interested in sanchez?

You obviously didn't read the 20-some posts above you.

I suppose looking at Sanchezes stats, offensively, hes a slightly beter Ryan Theriot with a bit more power but less speed(but hopefully better baseruning instincts). We could use someone with a bit more power. Dan Uggla comes to mind. I know AVG. is a well over rated stat, but that .228 he sports sure is ugly. And is his defense still as horrid as it was lasy year? Wed probably have to give up a ton considering hes making next to nothing and under team control for the next 2 years. To bad the Orioles had to go and sign Roberts to an extension. Whose the joker who told them they had a chance to win anyway?

I'm shocked (and pleased) we were actually going after Sanchez. Because if so, in a way, Hendry admits it was wrong to get rid of Derosa (a good RH) just to get (a weaker) LH. Because it essentially replaces a LH batter (fontenot) with a RH batter (Sanchez). And I didn't think Hendry would do that, so I'm suprised, but happy.

Count me in on the "Meh" for Freddy Sanchez boat. I'm not completely opposed to getting him, I just don't think he's what the team needs to be put over the top.

Personally, I'd like to see them go after Figgins. Sure his defense at 2B would be worse than Sanchez, but he's drawn 30 more walks than Sanchez this year and that .380+ OBP would look mighty nice near the top of our lineup. Not to mention he could spell Aramis and Milton in a pinch if he had to. That being said,m I don't think Figgins is going to put us over the top either, but I think he'd be more beneficial to the team than Freddy Sanchez would.

I couldn't really disagree more about Figgins

I don't blame you. He's a like him or hate him type of player. Me personally, I like him and the skillset he brings, which is a .300 hitting, high OBP utility guy who can play virtually any position on any given day

Well if the Cubs want Sanchez, they'll be able to get him without having to give up too much. The Pirates seem content on just giving away players for next to nothing, so I'm really not that concerned that Hendry would overpay for Sanchez.

Personally, I like Freddy Sanchez. I don't think he'd be a gigantic difference maker, but he does make your lineup better. It's safe to say he won't be hitting 3rd in our lineup either, so depending on where you hit him, he might be able to see his fair share of hittable pitches.

Having Sanchez at 2B, and move Fontenot to the bench, improves not only the starting lineup but the bench as a whole. Now while not a huge difference maker, but it would improve two areas.

Al at BCB says the Cubs are working on a deal for a pitcher who whould make his followers very happy. I know, I know it's BCB, but he was spot on with Gerald Perry being fired earlier this year, so who knows?

Kerry Wood? What other pitcher has followers who would be thrilled that they would be pitching for the Cubs?

Unless said pitcher is a great hitter, I don't see how we're going to be happy.

Sorry. I worded that poorly. I meant Al's followers, not the pitcher's. I assume he just means it is a significant player.
