Other than the HR rate, Harden hasn't been terrible this year. His xFIP (FIP + normalized HR rate) is 3.91. IIRC, xFIP is a better predictor of future performance than FIP and ERA.

That's some really strange looking splits and differences from one year to the next.............

To me it seems as simple as command and keeping the ball down. He kept it down last night and in Pittsburgh, he was living up in the zone and well out of the zone against Milwaukee and his last two starts.

Maybe I'm being overly simplistic and this is based only on observation, not pitch charts so I could be completely wrong.

Or it's Lou's standard nonsense that he talks.

He does not mean every word that comes out of his mouth. And then sometimes when he's obviously tired he is capable to rambling nonsense because he can't find the right words. This should always be considered when he says things that sound off.

If you're not sure what this means...then the rest of us have no chance, bro

Hahaha. Alright, I might have been a little drunk when I posted that, and it was 4:30 in the morning or somewhere around there.

I guess I was just saying that I found his comment very humorous, but that it's kind of a hit/miss type thing.

Further evidence that Lou is losing it!

He gives the worst daily press reports I've ever seen. When they show him during the broadcasts he looks like he's totally out of it.....he can barely string a sentence together

His press conferences basically consist of him rambling, punctuated with sharp "Look, we've just gotta ... " statements. Occasionally he cracks a joke of some sort to break the tension.

When they show him during games, he doesn't look out of it to me. He looks like a guy who's so frustrated that he's constantly throwing his hands up, cursing under his breath and to his coaches, and sometimes just shaking his head in disgust. You can clearly tell that his players' performance on the field is affecting him.

Lou cares and isn't senile. I really believe he's just out of possible solutions.
