This week is going to be huge for the Cubs... the Brewers/Cardinals will beat up on each other starting tomorrow and then we have a 4 game set against the Cardinals this weekend.

Reds @ Phillies 7:05 p.m.

Pirates @ Astros 8:05 p.m.

Another note, Marquis going for his MLB leading 11th win against the Nationals.

Here's hoping the Brew Crew take 2 of 3 from St. Louis coupled with a Cubs sweep :-s

It sucks we cant gain ground on both teams this week. I wouldnt mind seeing Stl take 2 of 3 with a Cubs sweep so we can pass the Brewers, and then take care of Stl ourselves heading into the break.

WTF Marquis. 8 IP, 0 ER, first to 11 wins.

It's not the second half yet. That's when Marquis usually implodes.

I'm just mad cause the Rockies fleeced us. Luis freaking Vizcaino, give me a break.

That's cool I guess... kid's on pace for 22 wins for a bad team.

Yeah, the Rockies aren't a 'bad' team.

They're 13-21 in their crappy division. Believe it or not, the Giants aren't good, either.

Two words: Contract yr.

Marquis isn't a "bad pitcher" but he isn't this good, and I am not worried about it, either. The Cards should be pissed tho, cause he's better then anybody in their rotation not name Carp or Wainwright.

The Giants would be in first place in the NL Central.

That's an excellent point seeing as they're 10-8 against the NL Central..

If you're going to call the Rockies and Giants bad, then call every team in the NL Central bad as well. A little consistency..

Unlike a lot of people in sports talk radio who are enamored with Jason Marquis and people that complain that we don't have him, I just point to our starters' ERA for proof that we don't miss Marquis at all. The starting rotation hasn't been close to our problem this year. Yeah we didn't get anything in return for Marquis, but anyone watching the Cubs the last two years knew how pitiful he was for the amount of money he was making. Plus I remember Marquis having two pretty good first halves for us in 07 and 08 (especially 07) before having two horrid second halves. It happens.

Marquis might be our third best starter this year, but I'd likely take Dempster and Harden to have better second halves than Marquis.

And yes, Marquis tends to be much better in the first half than the second half. His 07 first half was almost identical to this year's first half and then he wasn't particularly good in the second half.

Definitely helped him out last time.
