I doubt I'm the only one that hadn't noticed what he's doing in Texas. He's currently batting .288/.430/.562 in 93 PAs for a 157 OPS+. Granted, it's a small sample size, but it's already more production than he had with LA.

He seriously looks like a different player. Dropped some of the weight he had put on in LA and is swinging with confidence. I'm glad to see him doing well.

Arlington strikes again

Home: .348/.492/.761

Away: .233/.361/.367

His away numbers are still miles ahead of his last year's embarrasment of .158/.256/.249.

He's on pace for 113 walks vs 578 PAs, which would be his highest total in his career by far. In 2002 he had 83 walks in 659 PAs.

May 1 until last night: .211/.283/.455

oof

huh? May 1 through last night, he was playing at a 50 HR pace.

at any rate, great hitters like Kinsler, Youkilis, Vic Martinez have had a really rough go of it during that timeframe and you wouldn't think much of it.

and your main culprit for Jones' slump is .205 BABIP.

those guys didn't go .205/.297/.369 over the two years before this one

I don't believe in Texas numbers. They're a myth, like Bigfoot and gay conservatives. 2005 David Dellucci. 2006 Gary Matthews Jr. 2008 Milton Bradley. And Nelson Cruz, I would not be giving that guy any kind of contract.

I'm not going to argue the fact that that ballpark is a hitter's paradise. However, David Dellucci posted a .926 road OPS and an .839 home OPS in 2005 and actually had a higher season OPS the following year while playing for the Phillies. While his overall numbers were inflated a bit by his home totals, Gary Matthews Jr. actually had solid road numbers in 2006, as well.

actually andruw has been a little better on the road this season

I like this little fact that I saw on the bottom of some site (don't remember which):

Andruw Jones' had three home runs yesterday matching his total for the entire 2008 season.

Exactly.

Milton, can we have our $30 million back, please?

Don't look now but Andruw is hitting .304 with 3 HR's already for the White Sox.

He actually OPSed .782 which isn't horrible for a CF (I assume he still plays CF and plays it pretty well). Only hit .214 though and it was in Texas.

EDIT: Never really looked at it before but if he can rebound and hit say 15 HR's and OPS in the upper .700's for 4 or 5 seasons (only 33) he would worthy of HOF consideration. Not saying he would get in, or deserve to, but that would give him approx. 450 HR's, a career .800+ OPS and at least 10 GG's at CF.

Alex Rios is the Sox regular CF, and Andruw played 0 games in CF last year.

Still has 10 GG's at CF though. Still if he gets 450+ HR's with 10 GG's at CF he would have to be in small group.

I think his comment was directed more toward his current production being "acceptable" because he was called a CF.
