AG all the way.

Without a doubt. This teams starting pitching has been perfectly fine this year. AG in the middle of that Cubs lineup with a healthy Aram wow

Posted
who is AG?? Adrian Gonzalez??

Is it even rumored about the Cubs getting him?

Yes Adrian Gonzalez, and no there are no rumors about the Cubs getting him. There have been rumors of him being on the block, but I doubt the Cubs would have interest. I mean we have a gold glove 1st baseman already, why would we need a new 1st baseman?......

You had me freakin' out. All I could come up with was Alex Gonzalez.

Why would the Padres even thinking of trading him (if he is really on the block). He's not very old and he's very, very good.

Probably because he's going to be pretty expensive going into his arby years, the Padres have a very very thin payroll to get down to, they are no where close to competing, and their other expensive talent is holding the team hostage by only accepting trades to 5 teams. I'm not saying its right, but that would probably be their logic.

That said, I highly highly doubt they end up trading him.

Man...AG is on pace to hit 69 home runs this year whilst playing at Petco 81 games a year, imagine how good he'd be as a Cub or any other team....easily the most underrated player in baseball. The thing that hurts him is that he's pretty bad against left handed pitchers.

In the last 3 years, he had a .756 OPS vs. lefties and a .908 OPS vs. righties.

he won't be expensive. he's making $4.75M next year and $5.5M in 2011. it looks to me like his price tag will go up sharply after that; 2012 should be his last arby-eligible year and then he is UFA.

Oh man, I'd love to have Gonzalez in the Cubs lineup.

Adrian would look good sitting next to Lou. Nice bat off the bench. At least that what we all should be thinking cause no way is Lou ever going to sit Lee.

As much as I love Gonzalez. I think I would go with Peavy. A 27 year old bonafide top 3 pitcher in baseball.

I'd rather have a good lineup with a pitching staff of Peavy, Zambrano, Harden, Dempster, Lilly. Then have a great lineup with Gonzalez and a good staff of Z, Harden, Demps, Lilly, Marshall.

Any chance we can ripoff the Padres like we did the Pirates and Marlins. Do a DLee (contract expires next year right), Marshall, Vitters, Wellington Castillo, whoever else they want fron our minors for Gonzalez/Peavy.

Im sure its just a wet dream but wow..

I doubt Lee would want to play in San Diego in a contract year. He has a no trade clause. No way that deal could happen.

He is from Cali though so you never know. Although I believe he was upstate a bit in Sacramento.

Was originally drafted by the Padres too I believe. But still, he has to know his lack of power would kill his numbers in Petco. Not a good choice before your free agency hits.

gonzalez away from petco from 06-08

.311/.378/.527 (.905)

.295/.358/.570 (.928)

.308/.368/.578 (.946)

it hasn't been until the last year or so that he's started getting credit for being a great player, but this guy has been legitimately good for several years in a row now. this year he's just on another level.

look at his splits this season. almost half of his at-bats have come against lefties this season and he still has an ops well over 1.000. he has an .819 OPS against and 1.224 against righties, so imagine how stacked his numbers would be if he had actually faced a normal amount of righties this season

well he's not going to hit home runs anyways so at least if he went to petco he'd have a built in excuse

Adrian Gonzalez would be huge on this team. But there is no incentive for the Padres to trade such a cheap and productive young player.

You never know. Theres been a few good players traded in the last few years that I thought teams would hold on to a little closer to when they would hit free agency. IIRC, Miguel Cabrera was still a couple years from free agency when the Marlins traded him.

San Diego is as close to Sacramento as Chicago is to Toronto.
