I want to say Cashner's xFIP was still in the 4's even when his ERA was in the 2.25 range. His k/bb ratio was never really that great this year but was getting a lot of outs in play.

Yeah, I think it was in the very low 4s and would have been below Ohman's. The poor outing launched it almost to 5.0. He hasn't been great this year no doubt, but hopefully this will be a good experience.

Versus lefties this year, Russell has 16 K vs 2 BB in 19.3 IP. He's been horribly unlucky on HR/FB ratio, though. Could be a small sample thing, but that's what has hurt him lately.

Perfect example of a LOOGY.

Yep - that's what I like him for.

If you're going to waste a roster spot on a guy who only faces 1-2 batters at a time, he might as well be a cheap asset that doesn't consume dollars from the budget.

Did anyone else read the article in the Trib site about Pie the other day? It basically details how Pie had a bad attitude problem, and his teammates disliked him in Baltimore.

Apparently Luke Scott really read him the riot act one day last season regarding his attitude, and that was the beginning of his improvement.

Here's the link.

Yeah, apparently Luke Scott should be the next Cubs manager. Maybe he can play 1B also.
