Also, Vince Perkins got booted upstairs to AAA from AA. He's 27 years old, but apparently his velocity has looked very good down in AA. If he can string together some strong outings, he'll join the list of "intriguing bullpen guys who may or may not end up in Lou's doghouse some day because of control issues" in Iowa.

Poster on my other board has seen him a couple of times. He was faster than Mateo and Parker, considerably faster than Coleman, and way faster than Chen.

Huh, didn't realize catchers get credited with an unassisted double play on something like this:

Austin Romine strikes out swinging, catcher Mark Reed. Austin Krum out at 1st. Austin Krum out on batter interference.

Good.

I was surprised to read how hard he throws.

How hard was he throwing?

Nathan described Vitters' home run as a "monster shot."

The blast, his second of the series and third of the season, cleared the wall, berm and concourse in left field and almost landed on E. Michigan Avenue.

Monster shot indeed.

Pretty sure Perez had two errors today, unless one was called back, which it shouldn't have been, because as the announcer called it, they seemed like real bad mistakes. His total would then be 5 errors so far, while no other fielder in the league has more than 3.

Makes sense, I guess. Catcher gets the putout on the strikeout, as usual. On any type of interference call, they usually grant a putout to the closest fielder, which in the case of batter interference would be the catcher.

Really freaking odd though to see a catcher with an unassisted double play.

Nice to see Vitters and Cashner do good.

I'm starting to feel a little better about the Cubs drafting him.

.......Perez has 18 hits, 23 K's, and a .207 ba......he can hit a fast ball a long way but is lost on the breaking stuff
