They changed a couple things from the original card:

Gathright, CF

Miles, SS

Fukudome, RF

Lee, 1B

Hoff, LF

Font, 3B

Scales, 2B

Hill, C

Marshall, P

Sorry for the confusion. Fixed on the blog, too.

This is the best type of day to have a lineup like this. Great pitcher on the mound, day game after night game, opponent that means less to you with a division opponent the next day. Not a huge fan of where Gathright is in the order, but other then that I'd rather have this lineup today than spread the off days out.

With this lineup though, the main thing they need to do is to work Lincecum. Keep battling him and forcing him to throw lots of pitches and then get to their bullpen in the late innings and win a close game at the end with the help of their awesome bench today.

I feel bad for the people who purchased tickets to this particular game hoping to see the stars, but I think this is a good long-term move for the team.

I hpe Ramirez is OK. I know its normal to rest your starters, but when its a guy who had over a week of rest, it puts up a red flag.

On the plus side, we'll have one hell of a bench.

It's an early game after a late one and he just came back. It would have been unusual if he didn't sit this one out.

What a craptastic lineup..All Lincenum has to do is zone in on the outside corner since basically everyones a lefty. Atleast throw some righties in there so he has to move around the plate and can't just focus on one spot and throw there all afternoon.

I was curious cause I haven't really looked all season but for all our complaining we are still 16th in runs. I realize for this talented of a team that's awful but considering the injuries and how Lee and Soto have been ridiculously bad I'll take 16th. Pretty much we have had as bad of a start offensively as this team is capable of and we are still an average offensive team. When Ramirez is truly healthy, Lee and Soto start hitting .280 rather than .200 and Bradley gets healthy and starts hitting we will shoot up the ranks. The fact that we are currently in a playoff position even with all this means we shouldn't really worry.

The theme of the game will be more Gathright vs. Scales than Cubs vs. Giants.

''Look, it's tough to sit anybody, but the fact remains that nobody is going to play 162 ballgames,'' Piniella said. ''I said that we were going to rest people coming out of spring training, and we've done a pretty good job of it so far.''

''Listen, they're all available to play,'' Piniella said. The only two people that have played every day here have been Theriot and Soriano.''

''Theriot is not going to play 162 games -- let's forget that,'' Piniella said. ''Is it tough? It's tough not playing Bradley, it's tough not playing Theriot, it's tough not playing Soriano and Soto and Ramirez, but what are you going to do? You have to pick some time, and today we chose to pick some time.''
