C. Carpenter in game 1

C. Archer in game 2 (Cabrera who piggybacks with Archer will start tomorrow in BUR and then we will be back on rotation with Shafer, Hatley, etc)

Cold and overcast but not raining today.

7500 5th graders here for Dare Day. I hope you can hear them screaming on the broadcast in about 45 minutes...

Daytona was no-hit. Starlin Castro reached on a 5th inning HBP and Nate Samson had a 4th inning and also reached on a dropped pop up error in the 9th.

The Daytona Cubs are now out on the field taking postgame BP.

Is there any way I can listen to the Peoria game here at work for free? I have mlb.tv premium; don't suppose that does me any good for milb though right?

Casey Coleman easily had his worst outing of the season for Tennessee today: 5 IP, 7 H, 4 ER, 2 BB, 3 K, 1 HR. His ERA is up to 2.74.

Chris Carpenter had some control woes early but put together a strong outing: 6 IP, 2 H, 0 R, 3 BB, 3 K, 11 GO-4 FO. His ERA is down to 2.25. Josh Vitters went 1 for 3 with a single and a strikeout. Peoria won game one 1-0.

Blake Parker gave up 2 in the top of the 9th in the Tennessee game. Those were the first 2 runs he surrendered all season (in 8.1 innings).

The 1 hit was an IF single off Archer. It sounds like his breaking ball is on.

Just listening to the game today, I've been very impressed. Does Archer project as a SP or RP? Or is it too early to tell?

It probably depends on how much he can improve his control.

Jake hits his 12th HR and 8th double in nineteen games. How can he perform like this and not be called up considering the many injuries? If there is absolutely no intention of playing him than trade him for a reliever. His value is never going to be higher than it is right now.

They need to DL someone for him to come up. The problem is, Fox can only play 1B and maybe the corner OF. He's a righty Hoffpauir.

Really weak that we had all the games in the morning (morning out here at least). Should have spread some of the early games out for the rest of the week, especially to days that I am less busy at work.

There has to be an AL team or 2 taking notice of this guy. He can knock the cover off the ball, and can play multiple positions, though ineptly. Granted, hes on the older side for a prospect, but hes not ancient yet. If only hed take the time to tone up his defensive skills.

Not to even begin a comparison but I do believe Ryan Howard didn't escape the minors until he was in his very late 20's. 28 or so I believe...

Howard was up at age 24, hit 22 HR's in 348 AB at age 25.

Nice to have good outings by Archer and Carpenter. Too bad for Coleman and Parker.

Chad Fox is doing well for Iowa. I wonder if he might not be a guy to call up is Samardz isn't actually contributing, or if/when they dump Patton.
