What I can only assume is an effort to differentiate themselves from MLBN, Nate Silver is now on Baseball Tonight (not full time or anything). Hopefully, they are going to try to get the saber market. Considering its something that MLBN should have already exploited, hopefully they will also be jumping all over this and we will finally get some informed perspectives on both BBTN and the MLBN shows.

I was just coming here to post this as well. I'm hoping he gets more comfortable in front of the camera because he looked so nervous when he was on before. They also mentioned he was writing for espn.com, which i was also unaware of. I know he recently moved from Chicago to NYC, as well.

He's talking about fielding metrics now.

This would be a really good move for ESPN. The MLBN really is comically bad with the use of statistics. They use AVG/HR/RBI and that's it.

Awesome. Now we'll know all the Yankees and Red Sox defensive stats by heart.

The MLB Network has been nothing shy of disappointing since it began. I don't understand why people are so enamored. They just took a bunch of former players and had them talk about how awesome everybody is.

I endorse this post whole heartedly. Between, Magrane, Williams, Renoylds, and the collection of has beens their "analysis" is terrible.

They ran out of jobs for the good ole boy network. So they decided to create a whole new good ole boy network.

Seriously, would it really hurt to give someone who isn't already a multimillionaire a hundred times over a job? Maybe someone with a college education in the field of telecommunications and got a passing grade in social skills 101?

Ha, yeah hes just a really awkward person. He was pretty terrible when he was on TV a ton during the last election, so I don't know if he'll get much better.

And, now hes not even running BPro anymore (I think he still puts stuff up as a contributing guest, but I didn't renew my subscription so I'm not sure), since hes devoted himself to politics. But it wasn't so much that Nate Silver himself was on BBTN, but that I hope it is a harbinger of an increase in acceptance and publicity of sabermetrics in the baseball television analyst communitry.

His political writing is just about as brilliant as his work for BP.

He does come across as a geek on television, but if your life's work is statistics by way of multivariate analysis, chances are you'll come across as a geek.

Hopefully he's at least a weekly contributor to BBTN. Definitely brings balance relative to EY and Kruk.

I honestly think it is mostly due to the fact that they give a fair amount of coverage to every team, not just the Yanks and Sox. Personally i love tuning in after a game and getting live look ins as well as the highlights of every game

yeah I don't care whether a former ball player or some professional broadcaster is telling me their opinion. I wouldn't care what either one had to say, I like MLBN for the highlights and live look ins, I don't really pay attention to any of the analysis.
