Florida @ Pittsburgh 6:05 (Miller v Ohlendorf)

San Diego @ Philly 6:05 (Correia v Moyer)

Cin @ Houston 7:05 (Arroyo v Hampton)

Colorado @ Arizona 8:40 (Marquis v Garland)

Orioles @ Red Sox in progress is the only daytime game. Pie is batting in the 9 spot, and announcers are talking about how the management can only give him so much time to figure it out before they're going to have to pull the plug on him.

Izturis misplayed a ball that led to a run, and he had an IF single to drive one in. 3-1 Sox bottom 5. Looks like his RGI production is taking a hit as the years progress.

Am I wrong for thinking that the Marlins-Pirates game is the most interesting one on the bill today?

O's have two men on base at the same time for the first time this game. Their 5-9 spots in the order are batting a combined .119 with RISP. Wigginton promptly GIDP's and ends the fake rally.

Watching Cesar Izturis play baseball is a truly painful experience. The Orioles in general are pretty tough to watch. No wonder people around here get so pumped about the Ravens. There's no one else around to watch.

I just learned that Jason Varitek and Derek Lowe went to Boston in a straight up trade that sent Heathcliff Slocumb (sp) to Seattle, back in 1997. Maybe that's old news to some of you, but hearing that made me all  and wtf.

Pie just misplayed a flyball to left center, and it allowed David freaking Ortiz to get a triple. I'm thinking Felix won't be starting in Baltimore by the end of August.

Yeah, Pie has been pretty awful both at the plate and in the field. He of course is both trying to learn a new position and adjust to a new league, but they are already clamoring for his head in Baltimore, and I don't see a happy ending coming for him.

As for the Baltimore bullpen, overall that is one of the worst pitching staffs I have ever seen. Their 3, 4, and 5 spots are awful. Their bullpen has a couple decent guys and then a lot of question marks or downright bad guys. They're actually using 13 pitchers right now to stem the tide and prevent overuse but they still cannot find anybody to be effective for them.

Otherwise they jeopardize their chance at the pennant?

They technically don't even have a five spot right now. I don't remember what happened to whom, but they were saying that one of their starters is on the DL, and that spot was replaced with a reliever. They also replaced a position player with a reliever. Their bullpen is stocked with NINE freaking people right now.

Either that or they stop wasting the roster spot on him and call up another reliever.

Well they do have another decent prospect at 25 years of age who is going to be stuck at AAA as long as Pie is getting the majority of at-bats at the major league level:

If he keeps hitting while Pie keeps struggling, it's going to be hard not to make the switch in a few weeks.

I never really understood what the Orioles were trying to do with Pie anyway. His bat is unlikely to be good enough to be a very good option at LF. The only way they'd get a decent amount of value out of him would be to develop his bat in LF this year and then trade him to another team who needs a CF once he shows he can hit, but that's a very risky plan to undertake.

I'm just glad for my fantasy team's sake that Pedroia finally remembered he won an MVP last year.

a year in which he took a .262/.313/.365 line into mid-June

Haha. While watching the Reds/Astros game on MLB.tv they forgot to go to commercial for a while. The announcer was whistling and talking to somebody although you couldn't hear the other person in the conversation.
