how is that "message" that they sent at the end of the last game going?

Can we get an IQ level of 100+ lock put on this thread, please?

Then what exactly are you proving when you pick a brawl at the end of a game you are losing 7-4? That they shouldn't go to the same wild west tavern as you?

Message sending for the next game, it's happened since the beginning of the sport. Very similar to how baseball used to be... you take care of it on the field... you hit my guy I'm going to make sure to hit your guy(s)... there were no warnings or ejections for that crap. Let the players police the game themselves.

There is a reason why baseball stopped allowing those fights...it's [expletive] and shouldn't be part of the game for the most part. It should be the same why in hockey in terms of warnings and ejections.

not really. baseball is not a particularly physical or intense sport. hockey is very much so. rather a couple guys fight each other and end up with a few sore fists than nasty cheapshots happen and guys get seriously hurt. fighting lets the players release frustrations etc. in a pretty safe way. if it were 'banned' guys would resort to very dangerous stickwork or intent to injure hits. so fighting in hockey is a good.

Last time I checked the rulebook, slashing, crosschecking, high sticking, and hooking are all penalties and they can get you a major penalty as well. At least that is the sort of stuff I am going to assume you mean by "very dangerous stickwork". Football is a very intense physical sport that doesn't allow fight. You don't see people other than albert haynesworth going up and cleating someone in the face or something like that all the time do you? The same would be true in hockey.

So what happened to not being allowed to make personal attacks or other things of that sort on this board. Last time I checked it wasn't allowed and you have done it 3 times now I believe.

Wasn't a personal attack, just making a friendly request.

you just implied that I was stupid, which you also did earlier in the thread. How is that not a personal attack?

I don't make personal attacks. Not worth my time.

You said fighting in hockey is stupid and I told you why I thought you were wrong... you can choose to agree or disagree, that's what internet message boards are for.

You may not understand the more in depth points of hockey (message sending/fighting) which is ok, I'll happily educate. Sorry if you thought I was "personally attacking" you.

First of all I don't need you to educate me. Secondly, saying that someone doesn't have an IQ over 100 is absolutely a personal attack. Saying that anyone who doesn't think fighting is part of hockey is stupid is also implying that I am stupid.

Where did I say you were "stupid" for saying fighting is dumb?

Fights in hockey are dumb.

You don't know anything about hockey then.

this is good enough. if you want to argue semantics, you didn't use "stupid".

Because anyone who watches hockey regularly or has played knows that the statement is wrong.

Face off fights and personal grudges are 100% stupid and should be eliminated. However, saying fighting in hockey is stupid is just ignorant. It's been a part of the game since it was conceived and is STILL an integral part of the sport.

Cause this fight right here when they are losing 6-2 is really worthwhile and an integral to the game.

The Penguins started that one... that's poor sportsmanship and should not be allowed. Are you not understanding what I'm saying or something?

i doubt he thinks ALL fighting is dumb, as he told me that himself, but the message-sending stuff is usually dumb. just because you like to see a brawl doesn't mean it's an integral part of the sport.

I do like to see a brawl, not saying they aren't dumb.

I watch quite a bit of hockey. The fighting is stupid.

It's not going anywhere for a long time, because it's so ingrained in the culture, but it's pointless.

Well he said it after 2 real fights broke out. If he would have said it after a pointless fight off a face off I wouldn't have.

But did you play high school level organized hockey or higher?
