WOW... Bayda got a MATCH PENALTY from that?!?!?!??!?!

yeah he elbowed the guy on the icing and then high sticked him in the face.

Wasn't elbowing... didn't see the high stick.

How was that not elbowing? He came in and purposefully nailed the guy in the head with his elbow. Is that not really a penalty?

He got him in the chest/shoulder with the elbow, therefore it's not elbowing... the nasty crosscheck to the face should get him suspended, though.

Keenan fired...

Bayda received a $2,500 fine for his match penalty because of his cross check to the face of Letang on an icing call.

Fights in hockey are dumb.

You don't know anything about hockey then.

So I know nothing about hockey because I think that fights are stupid? What exactly are you proving when you pick a brawl at the end of a game you are losing 7-4? That they shouldn't go to the same wild west tavern as you?

You don't know the importance of fighting... most hockey fans will agree the fights off the face off are stupid... but fighting is an integral part of the sport.

One of the last sports that the players can police the game themselves.

No it isn't, checking is integral to the game. Fighting in hockey is just allowed because they want to attract all of the redneck WWF wrestling fans.

No, not at all.

Message sending for the next game, it's happened since the beginning of the sport. Very similar to how baseball used to be... you take care of it on the field... you hit my guy I'm going to make sure to hit your guy(s)... there were no warnings or ejections for that crap. Let the players police the game themselves.

Scripted fights like those off the faceoffs are incredibly stupid and are usually personal quarrels/trying to get some energy in your team.

You don't have fighting and self policing the skilled players are going to get dirty runs made at them with little to no physical punishment... taking a skilled player out of the game would be much easier.

There is a reason why baseball stopped allowing those fights...it's [expletive] and shouldn't be part of the game for the most part. It should be the same why in hockey in terms of warnings and ejections.

Did you ever play hockey high school level or above? I guess since I have, I see the need for it... people who have never played might not see it the same way... difference of opinion I guess. But I strongly feel hockey is a sport that needs fighting.

Not only are you ridiculous for throwing out the "I played the game" card, but you're the same guy who was disappointed the Washington didn't try to start 45 fights with Pittsburgh at the end of Game 7 in the last series.

We get it. You get a boner from watching two players fight during a hockey game. Let it go.

not really. baseball is not a particularly physical or intense sport. hockey is very much so. rather a couple guys fight each other and end up with a few sore fists than nasty cheapshots happen and guys get seriously hurt. fighting lets the players release frustrations etc. in a pretty safe way. if it were 'banned' guys would resort to very dangerous stickwork or intent to injure hits. so fighting in hockey is a good.

Not really... pretty much any one who played understands the importance of hockey... that's what I was getting at.
