Joe Buck and Tim McCarver make me yearn for Len Kasper. I mean, those 2 are all over the place, from talking about the Blues clinching (bleh) to talking about Kenny Perry's sub-5.0 40 time or something like that, to the "Word of the Week." (aplomb, which you need a dictionary to understand the definition)

red sox-angels game has been a good one. 5-4 red sox in the 9th, bases loaded, papelbon and howie kendrick having a hell of a battle.

That was a great battle between Papelbon and Kendrick.

I thought Howie had at least a game-tying double, if not a game winner, on that drive to right.

Hank White just went deep to give the Fathers the lead 2-1 in the 5th.

Peavy is also pitching FWIW for those with MLB.TV/EI and I think the game is on the MLBN also.

I'm watching the SD feed and got some 1984 NLCS highlights coming in from a commercial break :(

Adrian Gonzalez just hit a grand slam as well.

I was going to pick the Fathers for Streak For The Cash but I missed it by 2 minutes :(

I really like Gonzalez he is one of the top 5 1B IMO. He can potentially be a FA after next year and with Lee's contract up next year I hope we can make a run at him.

Gonzalez won't be a free agent til after 2011.

According to http://mlbcontracts.blogspot.com/2005/01/san-diego-padres.html he has a club option for 2011 @$5.5 Mil. I am assuming they will pick that up as that is a bargain for the production, but it's always possible the Padres try to save some money and let him go.

If they're trying to save money they are not going to let go a really good first basemen for 5.5 mil. That is the definition of saving money.

Well they do have Kyle Blanks coming up, and he really can't play anywhere but 1B in the NL and they could have him making close to league minimum so they would be saving money if they had Blanks at 1B and let Adrian go. But I think they will pay the $5.5 mil. to keep him for a year.
