I've accessed NSBB with IE (at work) and FF and Opera (at home)...do I get counted in all 3 places?

Please take a look at the new front page for north side baseball and let me know your feedback!

What else can I add there to make it a page you visit on a regular basis?

Hot chicks dressed only in Cubs hats.

I like this idea, but the execution may be difficult.

yep - that's a breakdown by visit to the site.

By pageview:

1. Internet Explorer 39.14%

2. Firefox 49.72%

3. Safari 6.06%

4. Chrome 4.04%

5. Opera 0.54%

Google analytics doesn't show the view by unique visitor.

It looks good from what I saw. Haven't examined it fully since it crashes the school computers.

Interesting...wonder what caused that

Probably nothing on the sites end. Our school computers are awful.

I'd assume it has to do with older computers. Our computers at work are a few years old and have outdated browsers that get crashed by some sites (though not this one).

BTW - for anyone that actually used to look at the front page and click the link that updated the internet articles (thanks!) - I've automated that procedure as of yesterday and have the site looking for new articles every 15 minutes.

Also,

There is now a more complete listing of news feeds under the "Articles" menu option.

And now they are more nicely formatted with all feeds on one page and a mouseover description of the article.

Question for everyone:

Is it more useful to display the newest threads on the message board on the front page...or the topics most recently posted in?

I always thought it should be the topics recently posted in (with social/rants taken out if possible). It just seems to me that the most active discussions should be the ones highlighted. That is especially true when the season starts and the game thread isn't even on there because it had been made the day before. The same goes for threads that have continuous discussion the first month of the season talking about a certain position. Those are the threads people remember so those should probably be the ones on the front page.

I tend to agree with all this.

btw - I just removed social from the list and rants had been removed long ago. :)

I agree too. The most recently started threads aren't necessarily the ones people are actually discussing in.

This is now done. :)

Newest additions:

The "Message Board" link has been demoted underneath "NSBB Community" on the site menu. There's also now two additional choices there for looking at some of the board history - including the most viewed and most posted-in threads. If there are any additional queries you'd like to see, let me know and if multiple people are interested (or if it seems like a good idea ;) ) I'll put it up there.

I had a mini-panic for a second when I didn't see the message board listed anymore.

Yeah, it was momentary shock and fear for me as well.

Good job with the front page by the way Tim. It's looking really good.

you might wanna consider putting a link to the front page on the message board. nothing too big or obscene, but something people can click.

I would agree with this. I've been trying to find a way to get back to the front page other then typing the name of the site in again, but I haven't found any yet. It would be helpful to promote cross traffic between the two if there either was one or that the link was more visible if it already exists.

This is now done. Clicking either the nsbb.com logo or clicking the "Site Index" link at the top of the page will go to the home page for nsbb.

BTW - how can people still be using the subsilver2 theme when prosilver is available?

-- edited to add

actually, neither will be the default soon. I'll be adding a phpbb3 template to match the front page look and feel that I'll set up as the default template, though people will be free to set their preference in the user control panel to whatever they like best.
