Ive never heard of the guy, yet hes quietly made his way onto the teams active roster. Not even non roster invitee, the active roster. Is this a Willie Mays Hayes case in which even they've never heard of him, and they'll move his bed out of the camp in the middle of the night? I guess he'll join Brad Snyder and So Taguchi on the list of guys about as likely as I am to make the team out of Spring Training.

To add just a bit more detail to the posts above...

He's a guy who has shown some flashes of his first round talent but has had significant issues staying at full strength on the field. He has had both injury issues and also came back from abdominal surgery to remove a tumor last year. He's not likely to turn things around to reach his draft potential, but he does have some upside remaining due to the lost time.

Any chance of him being our Josh Hamilton/Carlos Quentin? Of course first, wed have to ignore the fact that theres no room on the roste for him.

He doesn't have near the raw talent of Hamilton.

Even at his best, Robnett has had issues making contact constistently. He's got plenty of raw power, but the chances of him being able to put that to use are pretty small.

How many 5'9" LFers are there in MLB?

That should tell us all we need to know about this guy.

So you...of all people...are saying he doesn't look like an lf. How hilarious.

How many times have you railed on scouts for using phrases like that and making assumptions like that?

I get your point, but at the most basic level physical stature is important. If he's some sort of latter day Hack Wilson, he'll be the first.

Dan Uggla? He's a 2B, but the point still stands. He's a short power hitter who struggles with contact sometimes.

Uggla is also 6 feet tall (5'11" anyway).

What's the severe downside for Robnett being short? That he's not as capable of hitting the ball hard and far? Because that's not true. Height inhibits him in the same way that it inhibited Jason Dubois. It doesn't, they just can't hit the ball with the bat enough. I mean, Mike Fontenot is about 4 foot 3, and he hit well enough for a LF last year.

Yea and I'm 6'1". (I'm really 5'11, well maybe more like 5'10"ish)

Robnett does look like he has the GlenAllen Hill muscle build that could be productive despite his height.
