I don't understand what's going to keep him motivated once he has his money. "Hey hey I'm Manny! I'm unna lie down on the ball in the outfield! Maybe I play, maybe I don't! Manny being Manny huzzah!"

I wish we had Manny being Manny on our team

That part where he shoved the traveling secretary to the ground was badass. I mean, some 72 year old jackass starts gettin' lippy with me about how he can't get me all the tickets I want, I'm going to make him eat **** too.

This business where no one thinks Manny will decline with age reminds me of when people used to think the same thing about Gary Sheffield. Sheffield had good numbers from his age 34-36 years. Manny's going to be 37 in 2009 and once he has his money, which he's going to be sour about since it's not 4 years, $100 million, I just don't see him being this 1.232 OPS guy people are talking about. Would you give Chipper Jones 3 years, $70 million?

This certainly wont endear Manny or Boras to anyone. People are losing their jobs in droves and 25 mil isnt enough for him? He has made $162,258,269 though out his career at what point does he have enough? If hes looking for respect the dodgers have already gone out of their way to show him respect. At this stage of his career place should be more important than price. The fact is he is a risk to flake out , 37 years old, a butcher in left field, and clearly a classless human being. Manny used to be my favorite player but now I hope he just retires.

There are a couple billion people in the world starving. Don't you dare ever look for a raise at your job.

I understood what you meant and you have a valid point.

He had an unbelievable run with LA, and has been a great producer in his career, but nonetheless, may the pox befall anyone who signs that dread-headed turdbag who quit on his team in the middle of the pennant race.

No, you see the problem isn't that Manny doesn't think 25M isn't enough for him, the problem is that I can't see any other team offering him more then $25M.

I am expecting a players union to file a collusion law suit aggainst the owner if he is not signed by openning day

yeah that'd go great:

mlbpa: hey there's collusion against our client and that's why he hasn't been signed.

owners: we call frank mccourt.

mlbpa: uh oh

owners: mr. mccourt, did you offer manny ramirez a contract?

mccourt: yes i offered him 25 million to play for us in 2009, it would've made him the second highest paid player in baseball.

owners: thank you.

mlbpa: ......

Plus the small little detail that collusion implies that all owners conspired and that is obviously not the case with Manny/Boras (is there a bigger tandem of teabaggers?) who have received multiple market value offers for a hitter that does little else on a baseball field or in the clubhouse.

If I'm the dodgers I give Manny the finger and sign Adam Dunn.

Manny >>>>>>>>>>> Dunn, and I like Dunn

yeah, you can definitely go get dunn instead of manny if you want, but signing a lesser player is hardly giving manny the finger.

Preach it. People need to realize just how good Manny is and has been. The team picture of the most dangerous hitters of the last twenty years unquestionably includes him.

If he gets paid how do they know he's not going to turn back into the .900 OPS hitter he was for the 1 and 2/3 seasons he was in Boston when he stopped caring? Plus he's 36. If he gets like a 3 year deal or the 4 year deal he's holding out for, that's probably the last significant (to him) contract he'll get for his career, so what is going to keep Manny from being Manny as soon as he gets paid?

Yeah, .900 OPS hitters suck ass.

Did I say that?

I'm saying I wouldn't want to pay 3/75 or 4/100 for a .900 OPS corner outfielder was terrible defense. With that money you're paying for 1.050 OPS Manny and I don't know if you're going to get that from him once he gets paid.

When they are statues with gloves in left and make 20+ million, yes.

Are we talking about Manny or Dunn here?

If anyone might offer Dunn $20 million a year, then it would apply to him too.
