Orlando Hudson anybody?

Just got done watching Hot Stove on the MLB Network and Joe Magraine was saying 1) he couldn't understand why Hudson was still available and 2) why the Cubs weren't going after him. Someone on the set even mentioned that they thought Orlando Hudson was a good alternative to Brian Roberts. I'd like to know your thoughts on the matter? Would Hudson be worth the money or are y'all satisfied with a Miles/Fontenot platoon?

I already want to punch Hendry in the balls, if he signs Hudson to some ridiculous deal, I might go postal. You know who else was a good alternative to Roberts? Mark freaking DeRosa, but we decided that he couldn't be good because he bats right handed.

I meant more defensively than offensively, Theriot will probably hit for a little better AVG and Hudson will hit at a higher SLG%, both will have similar OBP's. Hudson, most likely, will play better defense. O-Dog has never logged an inning at SS however.

 

Does Hudson cost a draft pick?

I'm sure that's what his agent has been saying, and the answer apparently keeps coming back "no".

The only thing I can figure out with Hudson is that his asking price is way too high. He made over 6m last year and he was hurt to end the season for the second straight year. He wasn't as productive as a Mark DeRosa, who was cheaper. His production is certainly better than Aaron Miles, but not several million dollars worth.

 

If he played SS, he'd probably have a job already. As a 2b, it's a bad time to be a free agent 2b.

Don't think we have the money. We have to think beyond this year. Would signing Hudson for this year be worth losing Lilly or Harden next year?
