11:44am C.T. ....Crane Kenney joined Bruce Levine and Chet Coppock on Talkin' Baseball Saturday morning. Kenney discussed The Ricketts Family winning the bid to negotiate a deal to purchase the Chicago Cubs among other topics covered at last weekend's Cubs Convention.

Kenney revealed during his interview that the Cubs are looking into launching a video on demand channel, "kinda a MLB Network just for the Cubs." by Opening Day.

Crane Kenney indicated they are attempting to launch the new channel by Opening Day that would feature behind the scenes video and "a lot of non-game content." Kenney mentioned they shot video of several current Cubs at last weekend's convention for use on the channel.

Kenney also stated the Cubs are still exploring an All-Cubs channel, similar to the YES Network (Yankees) and NESN (Red Sox) that would carry all Cubs' games.

Bruce Levine tossed out a few other jewels and will have more later in the day.....

That would be amazing. I'm just worried that our local cable company wouldn't pick it up though, at least not initially. I'm still without the MLB network as we speak.

Do you people in Chicago get the YES network?

If the Cubs start showing all their games on a CubsTV channel and I don't get it... uh ohs

I know it's in the DirecTV sports package, don't know about cable systems. Still the games on a Cubs TV channel would probably be blacked out for out of market, and you'd have to get Extra Innings or MLB.tv

Something like this scares me. Since I'm in Iowa, right now I get about 140 games. If something like this happened that amount my plummet.

They're talking about two different stations. The one they're hoping to have ready for opening day is not for broadcasting games. A YES-like station can only be launched once the deals with CSNC and WGN either expire in 10 years or the Cubs manage to get out of them.

I'm pretty sure and the same goes for Boston. Don't they have their own network?

I think they own part of NESN, sorta like how the Cubs own part of CSN, but I think the Sox own a lot more of it.

Edit: Looked it up, Red Sox own 80% of NESN, Bruins own 20%

If the Cubs have their own channel, I wonder what a team with such a history of futility can show in terms of classic games.

Sure, post-1984 there are plenty of games to show, but what do you have between 1945 and 1983? Umm...1969..Banks 500th HR...Monday saves flag...Schmidt game...is that it? What other memorable games are there during that time period of almost 40 years when TV was making its way into the mainstream?

They'll probably show game 6 of the 2003 NLCS over and over again.

If you don't count any of Game 6, Game 4 was probably the happiest I've ever been as a Cubs fan. That said, a lot of 2008 is up there with it.

So ESPN 2.0?

Sam Jones' no-hitter in 1955. Don Cardwell's no-hitter in 1964.

Not a whole lot during that era.
