You don't think he's working out for hours upon hours a day? You don't think he wants to come back and pitch in the big leagues?

hours upon hours? definitely not. i'd be surprised if he works out daily at this point.

Isn't Prior for less than a million if he doesn't play/a million if he plays a pretty decent deal for SD? I didn't want to see him get arb last season, but this seems like a good idea

This thread gives me a migraine. Apparently big-leagers no longer 'train' or like, 'work out' and stuff. News to me. I'm still trying to figure out if I somehow missed some sarcasm somewhere.

He's going to pitch in the majors at some point this year, just not sure how effective he'll be.

He's going to be traded to the Cardinals, converted to an outfielder and hit 60 home runs.

Chris Burke would have been a better pickup than Aaron Miles.

agreed, that .273 slugging % would look great in a cubs uniform

Miles career slugging- .364

Burke career slugging- .363

Plus Burke is about 4 years younger, better defensively than Miles, and much cheaper.

On top of that, Burke has a 44 point advantage in OPS against lefties for his career. If Miles is primarily going to get at bats against lefties, Burke would have been a better option.

Did Burke hit all 22 of his HRs against the Cubs? Seems that way.

He's hit three in 111 plate appearances against the Cubs. However, his .308/.402/.484 career line against the Cubs shows that he has hit well against the Cubs.

did Kurt Russell ever do a movie where he was reading posts from people at a mental hospital?

not sure. did he ever do a movie about "the place for discission about the chicago cubs" where baseball is actually discussed in baseball posts? that would be a great movie!!

That sounds like a pretty crappy movie.

It's a movie, not a film.

It's sick that Prior gets paid a million or whatever he is for doing absolutley nothing, the guy hasn't pitched since '06..Must be nice to get a million dollars for sitting on your ass and doing nothing

Making fun of him for "sitting on his ass" for a million dollars sucks. Jealous much? I know you're partly being sarcastic, but come on. You don't think he's working out for hours upon hours a day? You don't think he wants to come back and pitch in the big leagues?

Some of you are just drinking the haterade the moment you roll out of bed.

Stuart Scott would be proud.

what makes you say that? Is it because he was a top prospect back in 2003? All Chris Burke has shown is he can constantly put up mediocre BA's for a guy who doesn't hit for power.

I'm no fan of miles by any stretch of the imagination but Chris Burke is a white Freddie Bynum.

look if the guy could even put together one season where he pitched well and stayed healthy, he'd probably get a contract offer in the tens of millions. do you really think he's just lazy, sitting around eating cheetos and watching tv, eager to give up that kind of money? give me a break.

Even ignoring the incredibly relevant point about the money, the guy spent his entire life planning to be a big-league ballplayer. I'm sure he's just given up on that.

no, of course he's not. no one is suggesting anything in that ridiculous scenario. i think the notion that he's spending "hours upon hours" working out is equally as absurd, though. knowing the mark prior that we all got to know in his brief time in the cubs organization, i cant see the guy busting his ass to get back. dont you think that he'd be back and healthy by now if he had tried busting his ass in the past? it's a pretty fundamental approach. to getting healthy, that is.

I wouldn't know, my invite to his super bowl party got lost in the mail. Or so he said. Bastard.
