Ole Miss went nuts today, moving from 31st to 16th.

I'm still wondering why Arkansas was so quick to get rid of him.

I don't want to derail a fine recruiting thread, so I will not get into it like I want to. I am an LSU fan with alot of ties to Arkansas and I can promise you it was about a TON more than just wins and losses. He is sneaky and not a good man. I actually think Ole Miss and Nutt are a good fit, as long as he doesn't become his own worst enemy like he did at U of A.

BTW, that 16th ranking is per Scouts. Enough said. Check Rivals. :)

edit: My bad, they make it to 17! Still don't like him!

Apparently JC defensive tackle Branden Warner couldn't sign with UCLA today because of an unpaid bill. :? I guess maybe it's an unpaid JC bill and so his official transcripts can't be released. Still, very strange.

Yea, we shouldn't make this a major debate, but my response to problems being "more than wins and losses" is to ask: Why in the world did you then go to Bobby Petrino who's much shadier than Nutt?

Funny to see how wrong the talking heads of ESPN (that fine journalism institution) in predicting the fates of these new SEC coaches. In particular, I remember that idiot Mark May saying that Kiffin would not suceed at TN because he has never won as a coach. He and others also crushed Saban and Petrino saying recruits would never go there because of the backlash. Me thinks someone overvalues their own opinions.

Pretty solid class for Michigan despite the terrible season and the record number of decommits. Great job by Rich Rod. This is definitely a different Michigan class than years past. Speed, speed, and more speed.

Really different issues there. Petrino and Nutt are both guilty of using other organizations/universities to advance their own salaries and careers. But Nutt's transgressions were much more petty and low down. Throwing kids under the bus, leaking bad things about kids to media, calling former players "cancers on the team" right before the NFL draft, running off kids the media liked then justifying it by publicly trashing them on their way out the door. And then there's the whole texting situation which was much worse than national media reported. His former players are pretty much even on either side. They either love him or they openly call him a liar and a "used car salesman." I honestly think the guy has serious problems. Oh, and he will flat out lie to make himself look better. Other than that he's fine. ;)

Michigan has four guys at 4.4 and 3 at 4.5. If you wanna look at a fast recruiting class, check out the Rebels this year. They have 8 guys at 4.4 and 7 at 4.5.

Sounds a lot like Bobby Petrino. Lied on national television, slipped out of a commitment in the middle of the night with no remorse, openly flirted with numerous other programs throughout his collegiate career while telling his players he was sticking around, and I'm sure much more from his Atlanta/Louisville days that I don't know about.

I just don't understand going from one coach with terrible character flaws to another coach with terrible character flaws and calling it an upgrade in character.

I agree with what you say about Petrino. However, Nutt absolutely could not come back to UofA. That bridge was burned equally by him and the fans. Not necessarily an upgrade in character, but ANYONE else who could win was what Arkie wanted IMO. Also, Petrino is raked over the coals constantly while Nutt gets a free pass as some great leader of young men. There is a serious double standard. No one in Arkansas is saying Petrino is a saint, they are just sick of all the Nutt love for such a shady character.

Now I will go back and talk trash to all my LSU friends who still rail against Les Miles. As the SEC turns...

Yep. The only negative is the lack of DT in this and last years class. Losing those 2 DT's this year wasnt good. They've only recruited 1 DT last year and 1 this year.

Je'Ron Stokes signs with Michigan.

Crap.

tennessee wasn't a finalist, it was illinois and michigan.

I think you're mistaken.

Kiffin today on Nashville radio said that the Vols still had a couple guys out there, and that one would be a surprise.

Oku

Charles

Janzen Jackson

maybe Bryce Brown

Those are all possibilities at this point. 3 would be surprises. Oku would not.

Te'o and then Chris Martin commits. ND already has two 5-star verbals for 2010 (and a 4-star WR). Good day.

I'm a bit concerned that Te'o is going to technically be eligible for the draft after only 1 year with the Irish (he plans to leave the team for 2 years after his first year and then come back), but there's almost no way he'll jump to the NFL after a 2 year layoff so the team should have him for at least 2 years and hopefully more.

He'd be recruitable again when he comes back, no? That's how UCLA got Ben Olson a few years ago.

EDIT: I can't see Te'o picking a school for one year, he'll at least play the one more season after his mission.
