But whatever. Even if it's all true...it's a non-issue. They're football players that will never be on the field at the same time. Big whoop.

What if one calls heads and the other calls tails?

I hope to hell they have a fight during the coin toss. I'd throw in an extra first round draft pick for that.

This all sounds like a ploy by Bobby Wade to get under the skin of the Bears. Blow it off and it will disappear very, very shortly.

Except that radio guys and now Hub Arkush are repeating the same stories that they've gotten in each other's faces and had a confrontation.

Come on. You think he just completely created this whole story to get under the skin of the Bears. Ignoring that he and Urlacher are former teammates and were in Vegas and ignoring that most everyone seems to think Urlacher is a douche and a meathead.

I agree that it's not a big deal. It doesn't really matter if a defensive guy doesn't like an offensive player, even if it's the QB. It doesn't hurt the Bears at all. It is good for talk radio for a day though.

Tillman sucks. [/Raisin baiting]

Says the crack addict.

Bears are going to the Superbowl. Book your tickets now.

I don't know if I'd go as far as to word it that strongly. He's well educated on them, which he makes known now and then, but he's not what you would call a big believer in all of it.

He's a really smart guy, though.

In the world of sports talk radio, anyone who often uses VORP in player analysis is a stathead.

He's really smart and really good for the most part.

I tried listening for a few months a while back, and I wouldn't say he's smart. He's a baseball idiot and a mostly rational football guy, but not smart.

yeah, i don't see him as a baseball mind at all.

All Score guys. When guys like David Haugh or Brad Biggs start saying that this confrontation happened, then I'll start to buy in. (BTW, hilarious that the Sun-Times had Dan McNeil, a Score guy, write the article on this today.) But Hub has always struck me as pretty bitter about losing the Bears announcer job, so I pretty much take everything he says with a massive amount of skepticism.

I think Urlacher was probably drunk in Vegas, and said something to Bobby. I don't think it was put exactly the way Bobby said....even he said "he pretty much called him a ***sy"....not exactly a direct quotation. In any case, I think it was probably something about the way the Denver thing went down, not about his play abilities.

But the OTA confrontation story sounds like a couple of guys over there stirring the pot.

You think David Haugh reads our message board?

Theoretically, Urlacher and Cutler don't have to like each other or even get along. It helps, sure, given that they are both once-in-a-generation Bears who share a lot in common besides a tax bracket. But with neither guy on the field at the same time other than possibly for a coin flip, a friendship is a luxury.

I'd say his eloquence/articulacy, his broad knowledge in general about just about anything, and the fact that he's a Duke graduate make it safe enough to say that he's a smart guy, especially within the realm of sports radio. I know that's not necessarily relevant to what you're talking about, but I like the fact that I'm not listening to an idiot talking when I listen to their show, which you can't say about 9/10 people in sports radio.

And to say he's a baseball "idiot" is just a tad hyperbolic, IMO. I generally don't listen to the show for baseball talk, though.

Small guest spots aside, who is on the radio right now who really understands all the latest statistical analysis, and articulates it well?

I never hear that, at all. Anywhere. Maybe I'm missing it. It's pretty much just web sites from what I know. Radio is full of entertainers, not statheads.

A degree from Duke is supposed to be impressive now?

Anyway, speaking of stupid sports personalities, I saw a couple minutes of CTL last night and some unshaven guy, I think maybe Teddy Greenstein was all giddy that now everybody sees what he sees that the Cutler deal wasn't smart and that he'd rather have Orton and a better WR.

When these are your comparables, I guess it's not hard to look smart in the sports media business.

Usually I like Teddy, but that's really dumb if that really was him.

Scruffy dude against the Cutler trade is probably Morrissey.

It wasn't Morrissey. I know his deformed face and whiny voice. This was a younger guy, and I think it was Teddy. Then there was some old bald dude who I've only seen on that show who basically agreed with him.

They were talking about high hopes for the Bears and basically kept repeating, "I don't see it. I don't see it."

And how is admission to and subsequently receiving a degree from Duke not considered impressive and at least an indication of some degree of intelligence?

of course, this could just be some kind of jab related to college sports, which I couldn't give two expletives about.

ah... then there's a decent chance it was Greenstein... or KC Johnson? Greenstein usually has a neater appearance than KC. Either way, they're all morons.

Was the old bald dude Sam Smith?

It was mostly about the fact that Duke produces a lot more douchebags than smart people. They suck in the sports I pay attention to.

Sam Smith is the basketball guy right? It wasn't him. The guy reminds me of some has been standup comedian or something like that. I think they describe him as a radio personality.

Anyway, I don't think it was KC because KC has that really awkward tall guy who hasn't quite figured out how to use his body or his voice yet. I'm pretty sure it was just offseason Teddy not shaving until he returns to the college football beat.

sometimes the two traits go hand in hand... i'd definitely consider bernstein both

i love when he's douchey to meatball fans though

Yea, you're probably right on that it was Teddy, then. Sam Smith is the basketball guy.... Can't really think of who else the bald guy might be, though. The second part of your description makes me want to think it's David Schuster, but he's not really bald... I guess his hair is thinning a bit.

Bobby Wade muffs another one. Surprise surprise.

Seriously how many nfl players call other players names. I dont even care if an OTA altercation did occur, it wont be the first and wont be last. Wait till training camp, OLine and Dline fight all the time. Oh no Harris and Kruetz got in each other faces, game over for team chemistry. This story makes good news but its a non story too.

So everyone is making everything up. Then Hub came in to make that up because he's bitter? Even though he likes Urlacher and he, along with B&B have been giddy for months about the Cutler deal?

Then you think Wade exaggerated or made up his side of the story. Ah-huh. And it's all taken out of context and misunderstood.

Again this isn't going to hurt your team. But to act like this whole thing is made up on all ends for some unknown reason is ridiculous.

Urlacher is a meathead and widely considered pretty douchey. For the first time in his career he isn't THE star. Then you have Cutler who is a pretty brash, fairly cocky QB who wants to be the man and isn't going to back down. The entire situation is extremely believable.

You're right....the star linebacker calling the new star quarterback names is much more likely than a talk radio personality making up a story that gets someone on a message board to say "hey, listen to the score if you want the scoop". Especially because somehow, they're the only media outlet that has this scoop...

Except this story didn't originate from the Score. It originated from Bobby Wade's mouth. Sure, the Score has their own story on top of this, and to be quite honest, the idea that Cutler and Urlacher had a spat does not seem all that unlikely to me. This wouldn't be the first time (especially recently) that we've heard of players having issues with each other on this team.

Urlacher has a history of being a douche and a jerk. Why this seems so unlikely to you is beyond me. *shrug*
