I've tempered my enthusiasm by reminding myself that Cutler could very well be the Milton Bradley of football this year.

Bah. Why temper your enthusiasm? Why enjoy this to the max? You don't get a high quality QB, that's proven they can perform in the NFL at a high level, in his prime, via trade very often. I'm a Cubs/Bears fan...I'm used to disappointment. I can deal with that if it comes, but I'm enjoying the anticipation of this season as much as I can.

In what way? Milton Bradley had like 2 good years under his belt DHing as a 30-something player who got injured all the freaking time. Cutler is a rising star at QB. Their situations are not at all similar. Bradley is a player who never really put together what his abilities suggested he could do. He has never in his career player a full year. Cutler was a highly touted QB who started paying dividends almost immediately, and has continued to get better. Cutler would have been approached with franchise QB dollars by the majority of teams if he was available as a free agent. Bradley was available and he only got a 3 year deal averaging well below super star dollars. Cutler is more like Mark Teixeira.

I've never been this excited for a football season in my life.

Yeah, still don't know who that is.

That's why he provided this brief description....

that internet celebrity and super-hot girl julia allison.

Yeah, still don't know who that is, but Cutler's doing better than Mcnair was doing, for sure.

I don't really know who she is, but I've seen her name all over the place. Wasn't she linked to Cutler a while ago?

Yea, wasn't that story from like April?

I only remember because I went to Hub 51 for about 5 minutes the night that happened.

She looks like she might have a little psycho buried deep in there somewhere.

Check her gun-buying history.

"I'll need the results of your latest AIDS test, and any receipts from gun purchases in the past 10 years, honey."

Peter King has been having some players fill in and right MMQB for the last week or two while he's on vacation. Chris Cooley wrote today's article, and had a nice compliment for Greg Olsen:

I think I made the Pro Bowl the last two seasons. This offseason, Tony Gonzalez and Kellen Winslow were traded into the NFC, and with young guys like Greg Olsen becoming better players, it will be very competitive when it comes to filling the two NFC tight end spots in this year's Pro Bowl. Oh, I forgot to mention Jason Witten.

Nothing significant, but it's telling that he's catching the attention of his peers.

KC Joyner is not impressed with Cutler:

Sorry, Bears Fans, Cutler Isn’t the Answer

“I’ve said it many times and I’ll say it again — Cutler will make Bears fans remember Rex Grossman. He’ll make just as many crazy passes but won’t suffer the Grossman fate because Chicago’s fan base is so in love with him that they will forgive the nutty throws he makes in ways that they never forgave Grossman.”

The guy is supposedly a "football scientist" but then he starts comparing the records as starting QB...ugh.

Yeah, I read that and the first thought I had was "why is Joyner such a tool?" Comparing Gorssman to Cutler, especially based on records, is an exercise in futility.

Comparing them because they tend to turn the ball over is not an awful idea, however, they are still different in that regard. Cutler will take chances that result in turnovers. Grossman will close his eyes and throw the ball straight up in the air while falling backward. Grossman wasn't so much taking risks as he was throwing it away.

Cutler has the skill to make his chances pay off occasionally. Grossman relies almost entirely on prayer. :)
