ya know who i like? chris redman.

What would it be that you like about him?

i think his entire career he's been dying on the vine. if he got a chance to be a regular starter in the NFL, i think he'd be rich gannon.

I tend to think he's been dying on the vine because he's not very good.

He's never posted a better than 59 completion % (save for his first year, when he played two games) and his rating has never been better than 90.4. Granted, it's all in extremely limited playing time, but this is one area where I'll trust the "football people" (I guess that's what they're called).

Though his best numbers did come last year, when he played in seven games and started four.

Won't happen here, but wonder if Shanrat would consider taking an offensive coordinator position for the 09 season.

Can we just fire Lovie instead and hire Shannahan to replace him? :D

I don't know how someone can look at what Lovie Smith has done, and what Bill Cowher has done, and not see that Bill Cowher has had a better career, and is more likely, a better football coach. I don't think Lovie is awful. But I don't think he's anything special. Since Wanny, we've had 2 low key, low emotion, low energy coaches in here. It's worked sometimes, and not others. Cowher is a proven coach, who is high energy, and defense oriented. I like that.

I'd rather have Cowher too. I'm just disagreeing on how big the difference is between the two.

He's still pretty young, though. Way younger than I thought he was. Only a year older than Smith.

They've already said that Cowher won't go anywhere unless they have a franchise QB...sorry, but I dont think Orton can be part of that group yet

If Cower will only go where there is a franchise QB, then why is he interested in the Jets job?

He's not.

Since when? Last thing I read was there was mutual interest. Has another report came out since I read that(last night)?

Here you go.

A high-ranking Jets official told ESPN senior NFL analyst Chris Mortensen that the Jets reached out to Cowher on Tuesday about the job, but Cowher's agent called back to tell the Jets that his client had no interest in the opening.

Ahh ok thanks Dew, I hadnt seen that.

Not a problem. Can't blame you, though, since I've seen stories over the past three days saying he's interested, not interested, interested and now not interested again.

Far as I can tell, this is the latest news, though.

Eh, I wouldn't be pissed if he were Vince's backup next year, but I don't think he's worth starting for two to three years to see if he can be anything. There are far better bets than him out there.

then i like him as a dl coach.

He was such a great DLine coach in Tampa. I mean, it wasn't like guys such as Simeon Rice and Warren Sapp were high regarded college prospects. What he did there was simply amazing.
