LOL Wade Phillips

Eagles @ Vikings

Falcons @ Cards

Funny that I like both road teams in those games.

Yes based on your posting history it's funny that you like a road team over the Vikings. Shocking in fact.

The Eagles are the better team.

Much like the Packers were guaranteed to be better this year, right?

It will be a tough game and it's a toss up in Minnesota. I don't like the matchup. I was just making light of your analysis when you've proven to be less than objective concerning the NFC North.

I dont know how you can explain what happened to the Cowboys. They were the best team in the NFC last year and it was a suprise they got beat by the Giants in the playoffs. They are a much better assembly of talent than this years record shows. I dont know if this had to do with anything but they seemed really cocky this year. This could be the most talented team to not make the playoffs that i can think of.

i think the biggest problem with the cowboys is that the type of team they've built can't work with the type of coach they have. there are a lot of strong personalities on that club, personally i think too many divisive personalities who are more concerned with their image and paycheck than the success of the team. but when you have built a team like that, you need a strong coach to keep them in check. wade phillips is a pushover, a player's coach who has no discipline and lets the inmates run the asylum. if the folks in the asylum are too crazy, and you don't have much leadership, that's a recipe for disaster. when your coach is being overruled by your quarterback, that has to be the end of the line for the coach.

and jerry jones really needs to learn that building an all-star team is not the way to win in the nfl. the trade for roy williams was a flop, at least as far as this year goes, and pacman jones is a million dollar athlete with a 10 cent head. why on earth would you be wriggling for more yards with 5 seconds to go when the next play is just going to be your qb taking a knee?

lastly, tony romo needs to learn some things too. everyone talks about improvising like it's a great thing, but a lot of his improvising leads to turnovers and unnecessarily risky throws. he's certainly talented, but he needs to learn when to take a loss or throw an incomplete pass and move on to the next play. he also needs to be more sound when facing a pass rush, like not fading away and throwing a sure-fire INT like he did in the first half.

Denver is doing their best Dallas impression here, crapping the bed when a playoff spot is on the line. Unbelievable that a once 4-8 Chargers team could host a game next week

Colts won nine straight games to finish 12-4 overall, tied for the second best record in the NFL. They'll open the playoffs on the road against an 8-8 team they already beat on the road. Their next game, if they win, is potentially on the road against a team they have the same record as and also already beat on the road. They'd likely have to play three road games to make the Super Bowl.

I'm whining, I know (Lipscomb will do that to a person), but something doesn't seem terribly fair about that. Stupid divisions.

I think they'll beat San Diego, but the Chargers have given the Colts fits recently. It figures to be a really, really tough game. I desperately wanted to play the Broncos, who the Colts have owned. If Baltimore beats Miami -- I expect them to -- the Colts will go to Pittsburgh. It'll be extremely difficult, if not next to impossible, to win twice in Pittsburgh in the same season.

super-early lines on next weekend's games:

Falcons (-1) @ Cardinals (O/U 50.5)

Colts (pk) @ Chargers (O/U 49)

Baltimore (-3) @ Dolphins (O/U 37)

Eagles (-3) @ Vikings (O/U 41.5)

could have 4 road favorites by kickoff.

If I were any team in the AFC the Colts would probably be the last team Id want to face

Same here. I just worry the matchups aren't going to favor the Colts as they did in 2006.

I am going to name what I hope to wake up and see as potential replacements for Wade Phillips tomorrow morning:

Marty Schottenheimer (#1 Choice)

Jason Garrett (last season I was very high on him, my feelings have lessened.)

Butch Davis (probably my 2nd choice, but think he is happy in college ball. Still worth a shot being he came from the Cowboys)

Bob Stoops (OU is probably a better job than any NFL job, and don't see any reason for him to take the position)

Posted
Did anyone else see Matt Cassel had a 57 yard punt today? Yeah, I know it rolled 15-20 yards and he had the wind, but I still find it hilarious.

The wind was blowing like 50 mph.

Bad news.

Jerry Jones says continuity will be key, so Wade Phillips will be back for his third straight year. Phillips has a 22-10 regular-season record, but the Cowboys regressed this season. Jones said Jason Garrett will be back, too.

the video cuts off before the end, but the punt ended up being 91 yards.

I just can't wrap my mind around the 12-4 Colts having to travel to the 8-8 Chargers to play their first playoff game. That and the 11-5 Pats not making the playoffs. Unbelievable.

The Colts thing really doesn't make sense...I mean it does the way they the rules are, but the Colts should get home field
