Good move for Kenny Williams if Bailey can even give them 5 years of middle relief for no money. Sox probably aren't going to be very good next year anyway, so why not sell high on a 35 year old outfielder that won't be around after next year anyway?

Ballsy, but I like the move for the White Sox. Maybe the Reds can flip Dye at the trade deadline for something better than Homer Bailey? Especially if he puts up some inflated numbers at GABP in the first half.

What does that make the White Sox offense look like?

Cabrera

AJP

Quentin

Thome

Konerko

Ramirez

Betemit

Wise/Owens

That has quite a bit of potential to be really heinous unless they add some talent/actually have someone I forgot.

Cabrera isn't coming back, is he?

Touche. So Lillibridge and Ramirez up the middle then?

So... following the link provided comes up empty, trying to access the Sports hub or the Reds pages comes up just as empty.

Golf clap for the Dayton Daily News' web division. Anyone else have another link for this?

hmm...works for me. It's on MLBTR, but it's still going to be the same link.

Works for me. Maybe the internets are mad at you.

A source told the Dayton Daily News that the White Sox and Reds have completed a swap involving Jermaine Dye and Homer Bailey.

Color us skeptical for now. The Dye-for-Bailey rumors have been going around for some time now, but no one seemed to think the deal was getting done. As lost as Bailey is right now, it'd still be a bad idea for the Reds to part with him for a one-year solution in right field. They'd be spending a good portion of their available funds on a mediocre defense corner outfielder who has averaged fewer RBI per at-bat than Adam Dunn over the course of his career. The Sox are clearing a lot of salary. Expect to see them jump in on a big name FA.

They still might be trying to trade Jenks, too. They've made some moves that could put them in a good spot a few years down the road, but I've got to believe that these trades are also part of a plan for this off-season. I wonder who Kenny Williams has in mind.

Agreed. Kenny Williams would never accept not competing for even one season. Something is brewing.

remember when bailey was supposed to be a really good prospect?

You mean last offseason, when BA and MiLB both had him in their Top 10? Only a fool would write him off right now.

where did i say i'm writing him off. i'm saying that his value has taken a huge hit over the last year or 2. you can't deny that. he's still a good prospect... just not what he was.

The best part of the article was when Bailey said, "And he didn't enamor himself with the team when he was demoted to Louisville in early August and said he welcomed the demotion because Louisville had a winning atmosphere and the clubhouse was more fun."

Not something you should really tell your ball club but it is pretty funny because its true.
