What time is the BCS announcement?

8 p.m. on Fox

It'll be leaked earlier, though, I'm sure.

I'm having a hard time remembering, but it seemed like the human polls don't even release early today. I won't be home till 7, so 8 works out well for me :-).

I'll actually be home early, but gone after the Titans game until later tonight.

I'll miss the announcement.

What does this mean?

It means that Florida needs only about 17 more points in the Harris Poll in order to make it, if their gains in the computers are what I suspect. Florida had about a 50 point lead in the harris going into this week. So Florida's in, unless my computer projections are off.

Oh well, was hoping Florida would get screwed.

OU ended up beating the number 8, 11, 12, 13, and 25th ranked teams. That's by far the best wins out of anyone in the top 25.

By comparison Florida beat the number 4 and 16th

actually, looking closer, texas beat the number 2, 13, 25. that's much closer than florida.

I'd give the best wins to oklahoma, but texas is close

PS. AP rankings

The desire to avoid a rematch is a pretty major factor, though.

just because OU beat TCU and Cincy it doesn't mean they're better than UT or UF.

I just showed that OU beat better(higher ranked) teams than anyone else in the country did. You can take from it what you will

What are you trying to argue here? They played very similar Big 12 schedules (both played Oklahoma State, Texas Tech, Kansas, Missouri, Texas A&M, Baylor) with the only differences being Colorado for Texas and Nebraska/Kansas State for Oklahoma. The Sooners also played a much better non conference schedule with TCU and Cincinnati.

The quality of Oklahoma's opponents is higher than that of Texas.

What's more indicative of how that game went - the part where Missouri outscored Ole Miss 35-7 in the first 31:12 of the game or the part where Ole Miss outscored Missouri 18-3 after Missouri went ahead 35-7? If you don't think Missouri could have scored 60 in that game if they had wanted to run it up you're crazy.

I wouldn't have been surprised if Mizzou had scored 100 in that game. I was there. I've basically been saying that this whole thread.

Now....Do you even remotely understand what I'm getting at or what my entire argument is??

The team that got destroyed by Mizzou in 2007 is not even close to being the same team that beat Florida and damn near beat Alabama in 2008. It isn't close in personnel, experience, coaching, etc. Look it:

Offense

2007: 91st

2008: 38th

Defense

2007: 88th

2008: 16th

So WHY are you bringing up last year as indicative of what any score would be? If they played right now, I have no doubt that Mizzou would score a good amount of points in that game, but so would Ole Miss. Our defense is ranked 16th in the nation and Mizzou is ranked 92nd.

Ole Miss just put up 45 unanswered points against the 39th defense (MSU) in the country and the week before that put up 31 points against the 37th defense (LSU). They scored 28 points against the 19th defense (Wake) and 31 points against the 7th ranked defense (Florida).

Let's look at who Missouri beat up on this year: Illinois (56th defense), Nevada (91st), Buffalo (94th), Nebraska (67th), Colorado (79th), Baylor (87th), Kansas State (118th), Iowa State (112th).

Other than Texas (ranked 50th), Mizzou didn't play a single defense rated in the top 50. Ole Miss played four Top 20 defenses and overall played eight Top 50 teams.

Yes, I get what you're trying to say. I just don't agree with it. I realize that Ole Miss' personnel is different but Missouri's, at least offensively, isn't and that team beat the crap out of Ole Miss last year. I know that Ole Miss is better but I just don't but that better being able to make up for what was on pace to be about a 63-14 ass kicking had Missouri left it's starters in.

I'll post this again and maybe this time you'll get it:

Ole Miss Defense

2007: 88th

2008: 16th

Oh, and I don't know about the whole "leaving their starters in" thing. Maybe you can enlighten me on that. Perhaps we watched different games.

I shouldn't have said left it's starters in and instead said if Missouri hadn't taken it's foot off the pedal when it was up 35-7 early in the third.

Again, what does that game have to do with this current team's performance? That was literally 20 games ago and like a year and three months ago. We added a MASSIVELY better game coach and added a person who will likely be the second best QB in the SEC next year.

You think that crapass team last year would beat Florida in the Swamp? Or play Alabama within four at BAMA? Or go down to Baton Rouge and rout the Tigers?

It's honestly laughable that anyone would even compare the two teams. Anyone who follows the SEC would know this.

I think you're misunderstanding what I'm saying. I have no doubt that Ole Miss is a much, much better team now then they were last year when they lost to Missouri. But Missouri is mostly the same team. Ole Miss also has a lot of the same players with, as you said, a couple key changes. Missouri was on pace for about 70 points, which you yourself admitted, while Ole Miss was on pace for 14. I'm not saying that if they played today that Missouri would win 70-14 or destroy Ole Miss in any fashion. What I am saying, however, is that I don't believe that the increase in talent and coaching for Ole Miss is enough to make up for what could have been a 50 point beatdown had Missouri not let up in the second half after going up 35-7. I'd say Missouri would probably win by 7-14 points with it being a close game throughout that, unlike last year, wouldn't get out of hand.
