I think you're overrating how good the Big 10 is, and underrating how good Ball State is.

i'm basing my opinion on watching Ball State this year and knowing that they aren't out-recruiting Notre Dame, Purdue, or even Indiana in-state.

Again, I think you're underrating Ball State, and overrating the Big 10 this year. I think Ball State could give everyone but Penn State/Ohio State a game this year.

and I don't. Ball State's best players would be Big Ten teams medium level players. 7 or 8 of the Big Ten teams would win the MAC this year (if not more)

Win the MAC or go undefeated in the MAC like Ball State is going to do?

well if they're going to win the mac this year, that means they'd go undefeated

but ball state is undefeated, so if, say, wisconsin was going to win the MAC, they'd have to be undefeated, too

Wow Tuberville out via scout.com. Mike Leach flight to Washington is probably being diverted as we speak. If he goes they might actually get the Airraid offense this time around at Auburn. From what i understand it sounded stupid that Tuberville would bring in a spread offense coordinator but then not let him fully utilize it.

And Tressel is a really good coach. Yes he got his ass handed to him by Meyer 2 years ago. Last years team wasnt all that great to begin with. Rewind to their NC team, they beat a uber talented defending champion Miami team that nobody gave them a shot at. His defense is always solid, the offense isnt sexy and slows it down with a lead but in the end his teams get it done.

so we are still basing our opinion of teams based on recruiting rankings? in that case, utah never beat michigan or pitt and boise st never beats bcs schools either. hell, washington probably beat byu this season. (okay that last one almost happened)

Seriously we are talking about the MAC. A conference that has 1 team receiving any votes what so ever and conference where 9 of its 12 teams are at or below .500.

I'm a Big 10 fan, but Ball State would likely beat Minnesota handily in a bowl. Minnesota was horrible the last month of the season. I bet Ball State would be favored by 10.

New Head Coach Lane Kiffin meets with QB commit Tahj Boyd to tell him that he will honor his commitment, but that he is not a good fit for Kiffin's system. Boyd has now decommitted from Tennessee and will open it back up.

Before anyone asks, this has nothing to do with the Matt Barkley rumors that have been swirling on the internet. THose rumors are unfounded, and Barkley will enroll at USC at semester's end.

Ugh. Kiffin better have something up his sleeve or we'll have the Crompton/Stephens/Coleman circus again next year - and thus, another poor season.

I know you like Coleman a lot (and I do too), but he's a much bigger question mark than Boyd is. As happy as I was to hear that Eric Gordon and Marlon Brown were "very impressed" by Kiffin, I'm almost equally disheartened by this news.

Auburn made a mistake firing Tuberville I think.

it probably depends on who they bring in to replace him, but i don't think tuberville will be out of a job for long.

I don't think there's a coach available who's better than Tuberville. And I'm a big Mike Leach fan.

Tuberville is vastly underrated.

Go 47-16 over the last five seasons and you lose your job. Compare that to Miss. St's reluctance to fire Croom after he went 21-38 over that same time span (and 8 of those 21 wins came in one year!).

Because he hasn't been talked about in two or three pages (damn Ball State and Vol talk!)

Two of the coaches fired this offseason, Phil Fulmer and Tommy Tuberville, had a combined career record of 237-92. They had also coached at their respective school for a combined 27 years.

A lot of history fired this offseason.

And in a matter of 380 days three national championship winning coaches with long tenures were let go. Lloyd Carr.

Ole Miss DL Peria Jerry on Tim Tebow's failed 4th and 1 rush attempt to end the game: "He was sayin 'I got it! I got it!', and I was like, 'no you don't! no you don't!'"

First of all OleMissCub on your sig pic-trust me, I feel your pain.

I'm telling you, alot of ppl are rumbling about Tuberville to Miss St. That would be bad news for Oxford I think.

While I believe that firing Tuberville was a big mistake, you cannot really compare Auburn and Miss St the last 5 years. Auburn is a traditional power with SEC caliber facilities. Miss State 5 years ago when Croom was hired was in a black hole, coming off bigtime probation from the Jackie Sherrill days. On top of that, it's Starkville, MS.

I realize we will not agree on Houston Nutt probably, but what is the consensus around there about him? I saw how recruiting is going...Ole Miss 58th?!? That was a huge knock on him at Arkansas.

When did Tuberville win one? He got robbed of a deserved chance in 2004, but I don't remember him winning another.

Good point on Lloyd Carr, though.
