Apparently Garfein said 7 on TV, so maybe the blog was off by 30 mins. Either way, GM's meet the media all the time at the meetings, so it's probably more of the same old.

If this is for reals, my miserble almost 2 hour commute on a road of snow of ice that I just finished could be all gone and forgotten. I purposely didnt turn on any radio on the way home because I was hoping for a pleasant surprise when I got home.

I’m torn on it. Let’s see what happens. We need hitting more than pitching. Dealing from our “weakness” (we had a damn good offense last year, but choked in the playoffs) to acquire yet another piece of our strength…I’m very leery.

Our pitching is far from our strength when Marquis is on the mound.

Compare Marquis and his stats to other #5 starters, and even many #4 starters, around MLB. He's not that bad. His problem isn't his ability, it's that he's overpaid.

Everyone knows Guzman's injury history, Hendry probably just feels adding him isn't worth it because Towers doesn't value him the same as Jim. Probably counting on him to be a factor in the bullpen since he let Wood and Ceda go. I hope if it was add Guzman to get it done Hendry would budge.

Couldn't agree more. Hendry isn't a moron...if Guzman is the missing piece of these deal, he'd include him 10/10 times. I think it has more to do with what you said...he's probably being viewed as a solid MR piece this year, so his value is probably higher to us than to Towers.

Count me in the group of guys who doesn’t like trading DeRosa. Peavy is amazing, but I really really really don’t want to trade DeRosa. He is so much more valuable than even his good stats indicate. He can play everywhere, he’s a great clubhouse guy, and he’s one of the few major leaguers and Cubs players who I think ‘gets it,” as in what it means to be a MLB ballplayer, what it means to be a Cub, what it would mean for the Cubs to win a WS. He’s liked and respected in the clubhouse. He can put up similar stats to last year again (minus some power numbers) and do it all while playing his ass off and contributing everything to this team, which is more than I can say for other members of this roster.

I understand that Peavy is way more valuable than DeRosa in terms of player value. But the value DeRosa brings to this roster is so far above and beyond stats that I think losing him would be a bigger shock to the team than people realize.

Sounds like someone got canned on that SD radio station today.

Yeah, the announcer said the station was going to make a statement or something, and that it was the second toughest day, next to being on the air when his mother/grandmother died. Any clue as to what happened?

Chuck is talking with Hendry right now.

What channel? I have Bulls' pregame.

They said at the end of the show he was talking to Hendry. Not on TV though.

If that's the case, I doubt anything has happened.

At first I thought that he had some sort of weird emotional attachment to Peavy and that he had just been traded.

His radio partner got the ax without it being publicly known why? BBB?

Looks like Towers canned the phone interview, cause they're trying to put together a last minute interview with Greg Maddux.

Am I the only one who finds the contradicting reports not only to be expected, but to be encouraging?

That depends…are you encouraged when a woman hits on you at the bar, then starts making out with your friend, then tells you she likes you?

i don't think that psd guy knew what he was talking aobut. they just mentioned all the guests they have coming up and towers wasn't one of them. now they're talking about football.

What station is it? I was listening to 1090 a moment ago, and all they were talking about was a phone call they were expecting from Greg Maddux any minute.

Are you kidding? Sounds like someone I'd bring back to my apartment.
