So I was bored (and a bit drunk) and started thinking about if we could trade Lee for a good RF and then sign a 1B what would be the options. I was looking at Vlad who has a $15 mil club option for next year but supposedly the Angels aren't wanting to sign him long term. So maybe we could swing a Vlad for Lee, Pie (or maybe a lesser prospect) deal to get Vlad. That would mean we would need to sign a 1B because while I love him I wouldn't want to put all our faith in Hoff. So then I was thinking we could just outbid everyone and sign Teixiera. Like I said will never happen not only because we don't have the money but because the Angels will throw a lot of dough at one of them (if not both). Then again if Cuban becomes our owner I wouldn't rule out anything.

(In my depressive state I like to daydream about what could be in an ideal world and this would put me on cloud 9)

That would be great. Still, I was reading an article, not sure how old it was where Cuban says that this is a bad time to buy or sell a team. Maybe he was just trying to drive the price down, but I wouldnt bet on him as our owner. Zell might even hang on to it for a while. Maybe hes realised what he has and will keep it and bring it to glory.

On an interview with FOX News, Cuban said just the opposite. (on the subject of the 700 billion bailout bill) The reporter asked Cuban "whether or not this was a good time to buy a major league baseball team". Cuban smiling, answered "it's always a good time to buy a good major league team".

Unfortunately, none are for sale, so he'll have to wait.

This is a little bit more of a shakeup and would probably never happen and I am not even sure how much I love it either.

I want no part of CC unless he takes a short term contract ala Andruw Jones. I got a feeling his contract is gonna be a Zito like albatross in a couple years.

While vlad is still one of the better hitters in the game, he will be 33 next year and has been declining over the last 3 years. Not to mention he's about as mobile in the field as a coat rack with a glove attached to it.

I don't disagree with this, but in glancing at his career numbers, I'm surprised that he's struck out as relatively little as he has, particularly for a guy with his strike zone.

I don't know how much I like the sign CC idea, but I love the second part - I'd trade Zambrano for Hamilton in a heartbeat. Zambrano's still very, very good, but I can't help but feel that he's gonna blow something (his mind, his arm, something) before too much longer, and I'd prefer he not be a Cub when it happens. CC was fantastic for Milwaukee this half season, but I worry what they might have done to his arm.

I would agree with it if a top of the rotation type pitcher was coming on a short term deal.

However, the market seems to not heading tht way. Where in five year or more deals are going to those types of pitchers. I have no doubt Z has a better chance of staying healthy than C.C through their respective upcoming contracts of course.

I don't get why the Rangers would do it.

They have no pitching what so ever and Josh Hamilton isn't the healthiest guy in the major leagues. Plus there offense is stacked with or without him

He shouldn't. Maybe Bun B from UGK would though.
