The Chicago Cubs announced today that they will be keeping the ticket sales from Game 5 of the National League Division Series, as well as all games from the National League Championship Series, all of which were not played when the Cubs were swept by the Dodgers earlier in October. Previously the club announced that they would be refunding the money to their disappointed fan base, but ultimately they decided that they wanted the money.

"No question we want this money," General Manager Jim Hendry said. "We thought we were going to be playing more than two home playoff games. You thought the fans were disappointed? We needed that money. It was either this or put up more advertisements around Wrigley, and you know our dum- excuse me passionate fans would not stand for Wrigley Field to be desecrated in that way. So we're going to keep it."

No refund for Game 5 of the NLDS or Game 2 of the NLCS for me. I mailed them in and tracking shows they were signed for at Wrigley (I sent them certified which costs $7)...

Seriously, this franchise is so frustrating.

I got my NLCS but not NLDS refund (which I sent in the same envelope). I demanded that they refund my fees as well and they actually DID! Wow, did they do this for anybody else, or did my demand actually work?

EDIT: They actually kept some of the fees, but not all of them. I still got about 75% of the fees back. I'm guessing they did this for everybody.

Got my refund today. Paid total $145.12 for Game 2 NLCS tickets and received a refund of $139.12. Basically $6 for two printouts on my computer that I will just burn now that I have my refund...

:bye: :banghead:

There wasn't a need to mail the tickets back for either the NLDS or NLCS. The refunds are automatic.

Ok, so they kept $6 on every ticket sold for game 5 NLDS and games 1, 2, 6, and 7 of NLCS.

Did most of the tickets sell for all those games? If so you are looking at 5 games * ~40,000 tickets * $6 per ticket = $1,200,000

The money is for tickets.com, but it's per order, not ticket. And since it's only tickets.com orders, of which there were maybe 7,500 tickets available per game, it's not quite as much.

I only lost $3.50 in fees (FedEx delivery which never shipped instead of print at home), by the way.

The Cubs ticket office responded to my inquiry with the following email:

Refunds for the NLDS game were processed on Friday, October 17th. Refunds for all NLCS games were processed on October 15th. If you have any questions, please call the ticket office at (773)404-CUBS

Thank you.
