I'm 24 years old. In my life, I've gotten into a number of fights. I've undergone three surgeries. I've had more cuts, scrapes, bumps, bruises, sprains, muscle pulls, and migraines than I've cared to remember. I've had women rip out my heart. I've had friends and family stab me in the back. I've done more stupid, humiliating, and embarrassing things than I'd prefer to admit.

Yet, for whatever reason, in my life, the Cubs have managed to hurt me more than all of that combined. Why is that? Is there something wrong with me? I just don't get it.

I hear you. If any prson had let me down as much as the Cubs have, Id have disowned them a long time ago.

Murdered is more like it.

As a Mariners fan I really can't say much since my interest in baseball started about the time the M's starting looking up. This year however.....its tested me as a fan. Tested me to the point that I did not watch more than 10 games the entire season. And baseball has been a huge part of my life. Its tough.

Good luck to the Cubs. My second favorite team and quickly sneaking up on that top spot.

Well said, hommy.

I haven't felt this low in a long time.

That sounds like my 2006. I forgot what it felt like to win baseball games.

Honestly, I yearn for the innocence of 2006 again.

If you value your sanity, you'd rethink taking the Cubs as one of your teams. They find new and interesting ways to rip your heart out every single year. I honestly wish I was born a math nerd or something, at least that way I wouldn't have to deal with the annual bout of depression brought on by bleeding Cubbie blue.

And no, that's not a play off my screen name. It's just true.

I want to hate this team. But all that stuff I posted in NSBB over the course of the year about them being so damn lovable, and this being my favorite sports team ever, and this being the BEST sports season I've ever followed...

After all of this, it's still true.

I love these guys. And I am not willing to throw them under the bus.

No, then you become like me and my math teacher. East Coaster's who just can't pick a winning team anywhere.

You got a co-pilot for you right here.

It should be real interesting to see if they even bother showing up to LA, or if they just go through the motions so they can start their vacations. No one on that field looked like they wanted to win tonight except for Carlos Zambrano. I feel bad for him, he pitched a hell of a game. But if your teammates don't want to help you out, what's the point

I agree 100 percent. This has been a really fun season, with many ups and downs (a ton of ups though). I also want to hate this team and just throw it under a bus, but, i just can't. Why? Why is it that i can't get my self to forget about this team? Why is it that they make you want to cry or say explode on something? It's tough to be a fan of any team in a sport, especially a sport whose playoffs are all about the right team at the right time. I just want to stay positive and stay calm and cool about this team and this year (i know i'll be from a low number of cubs fans who think that). But hey why go down on yourselves when theres nothing you can do about it. I hate saying what i just said, it makes noo sense to me, but it's just how i and a small number of cubs fans feel.

Your optimism is seriously borderline annoying now.

It's not even optimism. I just don't want to hate my own team. Most of the rest of you can it looks like. And that's fine. I can't.

For me its not even about the winning. I'm not the type of fan that goes from team to team while they are on a winning streak. Its just the way they have been run. It hurts. Sure, they released Sexson and Vidro and we watched the kids play but how long will this last? This organization is so poorly run that I really can't stand it much longer.

Not that you were implying that I was a bandwagon fan. Its just.....I can stand losing. As long as the organization makes an effort to make smart decisions. The Mariners aren't.

I have a good friend who is a Cubs fan. Its odd that I would be interested in a club that seems to rip the heart out of its fans continuously. However, I just love the Cubs culture. I have never experienced that in my life and I am drawn to it.

If you saw the look of dejection on all of our faces right now, you'd have second thoughts about being drawn to it.

And yet year after year you all keep coming back. THAT is what I want. Sure, I want to follow a team that wins the World Series. We all do. But how many teams have fans that keep coming back. Year after year. No matter what happens? THAT is baseball. THAT is what makes this all worthwhile.

Wiley Coyote kept coming back too. You saw how that worked out for him...
