2 more ribbies for Longoria. 4 of them in the game.

Have I mentioned how annoying I find the word "ribbies"?

If not, let me do so now:

I find the word "ribbies" highly annoying.

RBI gets old to type repeatedly, I guess.

Maybe I should make up a new word/nickname.

Congratulations to the Tampa Bay Rays on their first ever playoff win.

as much as they bug the piss out of me, it must be nice to have a team that can actually WIN a playoff game

TB needed that one, Shields is their best pitcher and Vasquez is a gutless wonder, hell they had to pull that one out.

Scott Kazmir disagrees.

(Although he may be wrong...they're pretty close)

Kazmir hasn't found the release point on that slider all month and Buehrle has been solid mixing that cutter and change recently, even with that slow start in his final outing in Minn. For TB, Buehrle being a GB pitcher is going to help. IMO, Kazmir's command of his FB will be the thing to watch, he can still as a FB changeup pitcher, but if he can't locate that FB, he's going to be at 100 pitches in the 4th.

Didn't see the game (working).

What was up with the Cabrera/Balfour "confrontation"? WTH preceded that?? Just Ozzie's WS being Ozzie's WS?

Loved that Balfour K'd him and showed him the bench.

Some guy I haven't heard of starts for the South Side while the guy the Mets traded away for Victor Zambrano goes for the Rays. Tampa can take control with a win today.

Grant Balfour is a bad ass.

That was fun to see, I think Cabrera was trying to fire up his team. TB has been in quite a bit more confrontations than some tiny MI kicking dirt. Balfour is high strung anyways and if the Sox tried intimidating them, that won't work. Neither will meatballs to Evan, they'll need BJ to step up tonight.

What did Cabrera do?

Balfour was yelling at himself trying to get himself pumped up like he does. Cabrera makes a scene starts barking at Balfour to throw the ball over the plate and kicks dirt, Balfour yells, "what the f is your problem", Cabrera has some other words. Cabrera strikes out with the bases juiced, Balfour pumps his fist, points at him and then has some more words for him as he walks off the mound, Cabrera stands at home plate, AJ Pierzynski has some words for Balfour as does the White Sox 1B coach (Munoz) who stands around awhile as Guillen comes out of the dugout.

I saw the end result but didn't understand what led up to it. Thanks.

i have no interest in baseball at the moment, i'd like to watch the rays though. but i doubt i will.

If the Rays make it to the World Series, that'll leave just Seattle, Texas/Washington and Washington/Montreal as the only teams to not make it to the World Series since the last time the Cubs did.

Go Rays!

It's more sad to me that 4 teams that are younger than me will have won a pennant if the Rays win the AL... What is the next youngest team to the Rockies/Marlins/Rays/DBacks?
