Who in their right mind would take the Raiders job?

I am waiting for Art Shell's name to come up, again. There are better 1-AA coaching jobs than the Raiders right now.

Greg Knapp is a terrible coach.

Wasn't Kiffin doing a fairly good job with that team?

This is meaningless to Al Davis. Are you under some strange impression that Al Davis uses logic?

Come on Vanilla Ice, I expected more out of you than this.

I knew that he wasn't going to be given a chance and Davis would do whatever he wanted (usually the wrong thing). But, I was curious as to whether he was a good coach.

From what I can tell he is. Al Davis basically wants a yes-man who will do exactly what he wants. Lane Kiffin isn't this type of man, so he go the boot.

For the talent he had in Oakland, though, I thought Kiffin did a good job. I'm sure soccer10k can expound on the point more, but I would like to see Kiffin get another NFL shot. I think he'd have success.

Kiffin absolutely deserves another head coaching gig. Like you said, with the (lack of) talent Kiffin had, he did a fine job.

I mean, last year he was stuck with Culpepper and Josh McCown at QB along with a rookie who missed training camp in Russell. Not to mention that their receivers were Jerry Porter and Ronald Curry. This year it's Javon Walker, Curry, Ashlie Lelie (who was cut by the 49ers during training camp) and Johnnie Lee Higgins. That's to go along with a rookie quarterback.

None of this was Kiffin's fault and there's no way any other owner in football fires him at this point.

I really hate Al Davis.

Jury's still out on Tony Sparano, but I really wish Al had done this at the end of last year so the Dolphins could've taken a shot at him.

I read that as Tony Soprano.

Sparano is a Parcells guy, he had that job from the day Parcells was hired. Kiffin might have received an interview but he still didn't stand a chance.

Packers shouldn't have much trouble with the Falcons if Rodgers is fine. If not, we'll struggle.

This is a game we absolutely need before we face Seattle at Qwest and the Colts at home before the bye.

Davis is freaking scary looking

he's also a very sad human being. i know that he never minced words when he was alive, but now that he's dead, he sure doesn't care what comes out of his mouth or who it affects.

his corpse has no class at all and i guess has no reason to play politics. however, he's completely ruined his fairly important legacy in the past 15 or so years.

lane kiffin isn't exactly without connections in the national football league.

Show me a zombie who does have class. Bet you can't do that.

Bears aren't on here in St. Louis.

Instead the FOX affiliate, in their brilliance, is showing SEA/NYG. The only thing I can figure is that SEA is in the Rams' division.

Because, you know, the Rams will be challenging for the division.

Stupid.

What a character assassination by Al Davis. If that man offered me a job I would run screaming and then go and change my name legally.

That's what it looks like when your boss is an insane freak and he decides to turn his eye towards destroying you. You don't want to be anywhere near that when it happens.

I feel sorry for his replacement, although the fact that he's a defacto coach should offer him some protection since Al probably doesn't consider him any kind of real solution anyway.

I think it's hilarious that both UCLA and USC's offensive coordinators in 2005 will be head coaches of the Raiders this season.

Kiffin's replacement is just some tool that agreed to do whatever Al Davis says whenever Al Davis says to do it.

I honestly feel this is a make or break game with the Cots and Seahawks coming up. Thank God it's against the Falcons but with Rodgers' health being questionable, I am not too confident seeing as I don't trust the running game or a rookie QB.

Im worried with or without Rodgers that the Packers might not win this game. They should but who knows.

1st Packer game in forever I wont be watching tho, I will have to follow it on the computer (Brewers).

I'm not worried at all if Rodgers plays. If he does play, I just hope the line decides to show up. The last thing we need is for Rodgers to take another hit that hurts his shoulder.

I'm like 90% sure that Flynn will start tomorrow and we'll lose. It's just been that kind of week.

ESPN confirmed that Rodgers will start today.

Rejoice Colt fans,

Matt Schaub will not start (virus) and Sage Rosenfels will, according to ESPN. Should be even easier a win for ya'll today. Can't find a link on the web site, but it's running on the bottom line as breaking news.
