Kind of funny how the Brewer fans have become so used to failure that they seem to be chalking this season up as a success. They really wrent as much of an underdog as they seem to let themselves believe, with only 2 fewer wins than the Phillies had. Much like the Cubs, they just didnt come out to play, and the opponent did, and as they have become so accustomed to, 2009 looks to be another rebuilding year for them.

I'm not writing this because they beat the Cubs but, I believe the Phillies will kick the crap out of the Dodgers - Phillies in 5.

In the Phillies the Dodgers won't have the benefit of playing a team that's tight as a snare drum missing hanging sliders. Everyone thinks the Dodgers played so well, BS, how many bad pitches did they get away with? In one of Aram at bats Saturday night I saw three hanging sliders he missed - took one for a strike, fouled off the other two.

First 90-win season since 1992, first playoff appearance since 1982, a great deal of attention from the national media for much of the year, two starters in the All-Star Game, and Ned Yost is gone. Looks like a successful year to me. ;)

Really, the Brewers played like the token "Happy to be here" team. It would've been nice to see them win more than one game, but most of the games were fairly close and the pitching staff was in shambles. Gallardo pitched nicely in Game 1 but was hurt by the 3 unearned runs, Sabathia ran out of gas, and they missed Sheets in the rotation dearly -- if he pitches, Suppan doesn't have to start yesterday and the Brewers may have had a better chance at winning. The offense did sputter out, though, which was disappointing to see.

So yeah, it may be sad and pathetic, but I'm happy with the way this season went.

Hell, at least your Brewers managed to win a game.

No doubt it was a successful Brewers season. So what's your rotation next year without Sheets and CC?

As of this moment, Gallardo, (Free Agency signing/trade), Parra, Capuano(he looks to have a handhshake deal in place for next year), Suppan/Villanueva. I expect either a Hardy trade(to make room for Escobar) or to sign a decent #2 in the offseason to fill the hole in the rotation. Hard to tell this early. Maybe bring another kid up and have him try at the #5.

As it stands the only arm in the rotation I feel confident about is Gallardo. Cappy hasnt pitched in a year+, Suppan sucks, and Bush is prone on the road. I really really really hope CC will give us a discount of the sort and stay with us.

The Brewer team that won just two fewer games than the Phillies also had a healthy Ben Sheets for the entire season. And Sabathia wasn't dead all year from going on three days rest for his last three starts of the regular season and only postseason start. A relatively rested Sabathia and a healthy Sheets makes a HUGE difference.
