Z was scratched and Guzman will only go 2-3 regardless.

So it's this guy...

Most of the regulars will be back in the lineup. Should be fun day of baseball all around. Go Cubs!

I wonder why Z was scratched?

Really? You do know he is scheduled to pitch in Game 2, in 4 days, right?

But as of this afternoon, he was named the starter tomorrow.

Yea, Bruce said the plan was for him to pitch an inning or two, which would make sense

But as long as he's not hurt, who cares I guess

I didn't know he was going to pitch a couple innings. But I think that would have been a stupid idea since he was named game 2 starter already. Had he been going in game 3, that would be different.

I know...like I said, its the same thing that they did with Lilly last year. He started the Sunday game, threw 2 innings, and then pitched 4 days later in game 2

I would love for Guz to get through the first 2 innings with like 10 pitches so they keep him in, he goes 5 and gets the W.

There is nothing I want more than a Cubs WS title, but a Guzman win is somewhere up there.

It was Z's decision not to pitch in the game:

Cubs manager Lou Piniella said Zambrano told team officials he'd rather throw a side session in the bullpen instead of working the first couple of innings Sunday. If Zambrano had started, he would have been pitching on three days' rest.

"He would rather long toss," Piniella said. "That's his preference. He feels that's a better scenario for him, and what we're interested in is what's best for him."

Zambrano is just a crybaby who wants everything his way

Dear Chicago Cubs,

I appreciate what you did to the mets and because of that we're back in the playoff race. However if we(Brewers fans) could ask for one more favor and please lose this game it will be greatly appreciated.

Dear Milwaukee Brewers,

Next time you trot your regulars out against the Cubs C-team, be better at playing baseball.

Move along, nothing to see here,

Cobs fans

After reading that thread with some of there fans whining about us using Marmol and Wood for some reason (even though we beat them with our AAA team except for Marmol, Wood, and Lilly) I really hope we win and show the Brewers that if you want to make the playoffs you win games and make it so you don't have to rely on other teams.

I don't care what happens today as long it results in a one game playoff.

I don't think it really makes a difference to the Cubs either way. Can't play the Brewers anyway. If the Mets win, they still have Santana set for Games 2 and 5. They might have to throw some mess together for Game 1 pitching, but that's probably a game they were gonna be at a disadvantage anyway without the services of Santana, Perez, or Pelfrey and facing Dempster. I don't see the disadvantage of their hitters having to play 1 more game.

1 more game gives everyone a chance to tweak something and not be 100% for the division series.

If the Brewers want to win, more power to em, but we need to give Howry, Cotts, Marshall, Marquis, and Samardzjiajiajia some innings, because they need tuning up in a major way.

Also, I was listeneing to part of the game on the radio yesterday, and they said that tommorow(being today) they'll start the regulars, but only leave tham in for about 3 innings or 2 at bats each.
