Sorry, I've been through enough playoff losses that I refuse to be letdown if they lose.

The Cubs were the best team in the National League, they've proved it, and I'm happy with that.

It'd be cool if they won, but I refuse to be disappointed or let down if they lose.

If you can be happy with a first round loss, bravo Kyle. I would be furious.

It'd be different if this were football or hockey or basketball, and the best team had a right to expect to win.

Even if the Cubs were 2:1 favorites in both rounds (and nobody should be that big of a favorite in a baseball series), they'd still be favored to not make it to the World Series.

Face it: The odds are that the Cubs will lose in the national league playoffs. No reason to be disappointed if what the odds say should happen happens.

I sorta see your point with basketball or hockey but football playoffs are about as random as you can get. The Dodgers are very capable of beating the Cubs 3 out of 5 so I don't think they choked or anything if it happens. I'd expect fans to still be let down by it.

It will be a huge letdown for me. People may not believe me but 2003 did not end up being a huge letdown to me because that team kind of came out of nowhere. They were 51-53 at one point and then surged big time to end the season. They won the division with 87/88 wins and certainly were not widely considered favorites in the playoffs. They beat a 100+ win Atlanta team for the first playoff series win since 1908. It was a fun, unexpected ride to me.

2007 sucked a bit more.....3 game sweep and gone. But still, last year's team wasn't great by any measure.

This season means more to me because the Cubs have been the best team in the NL for pretty much the entire season. We can actually sit here and say we expect to get to the World Series and not sound crazy. I know the playoffs can be cruel and the best team certainly does not always win a short series but man, that NL pennant is there for the taking and it looks so damn tantalizing. :beg:

2003 just about crippled me because they were SO damn close, unexpected or not. 2004, for me, hurt worst of all. I thought that team had everything going for it and that final collapse was just soul-crushing.

This season would be the worst for me. I have the most confidence in them this year than I have had in any of the years.

On Baseball Tonight you would think that the Dodgers just had a 100 win season and that the Cubs barely snuck in to the playoffs.

I love it. I hope every expert picks against the Cubs. Biggest kiss of death is all these [expletive] head experts picking the Cubs to win - see last year again the Diamondbacks.

Is anybody weatching BBTN? It's Ravech/Phillips/Olney/Kruk and they were talking about the series and were basically all over the Dodgers' junk. Olney is like "Harden was topping out at 85 last start so he's a huge question mark" and Phillips was going on and on about how the Dodgers "power pitching" would shut down the offense. Then Kruk started rambling about the Cubs losing focus or something? What the hell?

The one where a fluke bad three games in a bad playoff format don't ruin the best Cubs season of my lifetime.

You are welcome to emigrate here.

ESPN just updated the schedule...Game 1 is 5:30 central, Game 2 is 8:30 central, Game 3 is 9:00 central.

link...i still see TBD?

I didn't have any preference to the game times myself. I have office hours 1-3 CST on Wednesday and class 3-4 on Wednesday, so I was kinda hoping that the 5:30 one was the case. I'll probably skip the class and use MLB.tv or "other means, aka my PSP..." to watch the game during office hours.

On Thursday I have a class to teach from 5-6 CST, so I was hoping for a slot not during then. This works out well.

Not to mention Kruk making up crap about the Cubs wanting to limit Z to 80 pitches the day he threw 110 for the no-hitter (when Lou said 100 before that game).

Yeah, they act like the Cubs backed into the playoffs.

Shelton blabbering about momentum? The Dodgers winning 17 games against the West when most teams in that division were trotting out their callups. Whatever. I can't wait for the series to start.

Oh yeah, can we get a damn story on a national broadcast that doesn't start with Billy goats, Bartman, Durham/Buckner, and black cats? It's ridiculous.

The Lakeview people are going to plotz at that gametime.

I said this earlier, but Game 1 will likely be the game we lose, if we lose one. Lowe being a sinkerballer...unless we hit him early, we probably will struggle.

Somehow he lost 11 games. I have a hard time saying we'll probably lose this one.

I hope the Cubs don't share this defeatist attitude.
