Mark DeRosa was spotted "wearing a boot and limping around the clubhouse" on Thursday after leaving Wednesday's game with a strained left calf.

Manager Lou Piniella said DeRosa will be out for the rest of the regular season and we're thinking he might not be available for the entire National League Division Series.

Yikes!

It would be horrible considering how hopeless Kosuke has looked at the plate as of late. I for one would love to see Fukudome be successful, but as soon as he steps to the plate I feel that it is a guarantee strike-out or ground ball .

He's looked better as of late.

I'm guessing this is where Rotoworld took it from. No mention yet that he might miss the NLDS, just that he probably will sit out the Brewers series:

Infielder-outfielder Mark DeRosa suffered a strained left calf Wednesday, forcing him from the game. A day later, he was wearing a boot and was limping around the clubhouse.

"Here we go, where we've been pretty healthy for the last month or so, and in one day, we lose two middle infielders," said manager Lou Piniella. "That's not good. I don't know if DeRosa will be able to play at all the rest of the way. We're a little short in the middle."

This is the source listed by "Rotoworld" the Daily Herald...No part of this article says he will miss the NLDS. Somehow "Rotoworld" takes this story and says he will miss the playoffs. If DeRosa were to miss the NLDS the story would be all over the Chicago media by now. It's junk.

NEW YORK - One of the Cubs' most valuable players probably won't play for the rest of the regular season.

In addition to DeRosa, infielder Ronny Cedeno was supposed to start at shortstop Thursday, but he had to be replaced by Ryan Theriot.

Cedeno jammed his right shoulder while diving into first base trying for an infield hit. Diving into first is something Lou Piniella would just as soon not see.

"We don't encourage that," Piniella said. "All you're doing is looking for problems. I don't think you get there any faster, either."

I'm not worried, our bench is deep enough. Move Soriano to 2B, move Johnson to LF, Fukudome to CF and Hoff in RF... obviously this won't happen but if worse comes to worse it COULD.

or you could put our ACTUAL backup 2b (Fontenot) at second.

Wasn't there a guy that posted here once that would have killed Lou for saying that?

Who's the other middle IF that's hurt?

Apparently Cedeno couldn't start yesterday.

Will any dumbass ever learn that? He's hardly the only MLBer that does it. Hell, DeRosa's done it.

Theres a lot that he will never learn, which is why no matter where his floor, ceiling, or walls are, he'll never be our starting short stop.

Is he related to Rex Grossman?
