What are everyone's final weekend goals for the regular season. These are mine:

1. Cubs sweep Brewers

2. Mets get swept

3. White Sox get swept

Those all sound pretty good to me. Let's do our part.

I want the games on the last day of the season to matter so Sabathia and Santana have to pitch. The Mets and Brewers playing a tie breaker on Monday would be even sweeter. Of course, I want the Mets to win the wildcard because I think they are the weaker of the two teams.

Sweep the Brewers, laugh as the Mets get swept, laugh as the LAstros sweep the Braves, send the Iowa Cubs to Houston to kill their dreams too and/or grab some popcorn and watch the Brewers/Mets tiebreaker.

It's way too early and I'm way too tired on a Friday morning to even be sure all of those could happen, lol, but that would be fun.

I would want the Iowa Cubs to lose to the Stros if that happened, so they would have to play a tie-breaker with the Mets and Brewers. Meaning, whoever plays us gets no days off.

Not if it's the Dodgers.

How to make Sunday matter for the Mets:

27 scenarios for what can happen on Friday/Saturday between the 3 teams. In those scenarios...

19 of them force the Mets to pitch Santana (70.4%)

3 of them allow the Mets to rest Santana on Sunday (11.1%)

5 of them the Mets have a lead for a playoff spot going into Sunday, making them decide whether they want to pitch Santana or rest him for a One game playoff or Game 1 (similar to the situation that the Padres had with Peavy last year that backfired) (18.5%)

On Sunday morning If...

Brewers win 2 games

Mets win 0 games

Phillies win 2 games

Then: Sunday doesn't matter (Brewers win WC, Phillies win East)

Brewers win 2 games

Mets win 1 game

Phillies win 2 games

Then: Sunday matters (Brewers magic number = 1, Phillies win East)

Brewers win 2 games

Mets win 2 games

Phillies win 2 games

Then: Sunday matters (Brewers/Mets tied, Phillies magic number = 1...even if Brewers lose and Mets win and Phillies lose, Mets win east b/c of tiebreaker)

Brewers win 2 games

Mets win 0 games

Phillies win 1 game

Then: Sunday doesn't matter (Brewers win WC, Phillies win East)

Remember, we can't play the Brewers in the first round. If Brewers make it we get the Dodgers. So I want everyone to knock themselves out as long as we get one of the teams knocking themselves out.

More AB's for Hoff, Henry, and Font

More situational play from the role players (move a guy to third etc)

More tough 8th and 9th inning situations for Jeff, Cotts, Gaudin, & Howry (I would add Hart but whats the point he won't be on the playoff roster.)

Possibly use Jason in long relief role to see how he responds.

Use Wood and Marmol twice each on strict pitch counts to keep them sharp (use them earlier than usual if needed).

Finally, to see Dero get a pinch AB Sunday to show he's helthy.

Personally, for me, it's a win win. We'll help stick a knife to one teams heart no matter how many games are won. Anytime I can get a chance to see Braun cry like a baby or knock the Mets out, it's a treat.

Not if it's the Dodgers.

The Dodgers are in the catbird seat. They have clinched with no expectation to play any of their regulars. Stupid D'Bags.

Right...that's why I want a playoff that the Mets win so we play them instead of the Dodgers. The Dodgers will be well rested and have their rotation set, while the Mets won't (hopefully) have that opportunity.

My only goal is to be in a position to watch the games. My HOPE is that the Cubs play so well, it will be obvious to everyone watching that it isn't gonna matter who has to play them.

x2

I couldn't care less about the Sox making it or not. Now if we both make it to the series...
