  1. Jim McMahon played 2 years in Green Bay and he's not exactly putting his life at risk when he shows up to Wrigley Field or any other Chicago establishments. They aren't the same player, but Favre obviously built up a lot more equity in Green Bay than McMahon did in Chicago. He hasn't said anything negative about the fans, just guy who ran him out of town, just like a lot of ex-Bears bad mouthed the McCaskeys. Then again, unlike McMahon, Favre shouldn't be in a position where he as to make appearances in Wisconsin to make a living. Time will absolutely heal the wounds. There will be tons of fans at his HOF induction, and he'll be worshipped whenever he walks into Lambau. I don't know man. Do you have any Packer fan friends? I mean some of these guys already hate him with a passion. I was surprised at how quickly and fully they turned on him. If he goes back into Lambeau, it'll be out of spite -- he's going to Minny to stab at the Packers. One last hurrah to show them how wrong they are. I mean it's a long, sharp drop from where he was 2 years ago. His first move split the Packer fan base in half. I think this one will destroy any he has left. I don't think so. My girlfriend is from Green Bay and thus I know plenty of diehards. Right when he signed with the jets there was about half of "packer nation" that hated him and the other half that still loved him. I was actually at the first preseason game and it seemed like half of the stadium was still wearing favre jerseys. Everyone else was either wearing a Favre jersey with "Favre who" written on the back or some other packers gear. By the end of the season though it seemed much more like the group as a whole (at least, those I knew from GB) had let it go and were still proud of all the great years he had in GB. Hell, the packers were planning on retiring his number this year. I really doubt the scars are still that deep. If he went to the Vikings, they'd hate him for a short time but they'd get over that, too. Hell, Ron Santo ended his career on the southside and look at how he's responded to here. Favre will be fine. That city loved him far, far too much to ever completely turn on him. That said - he still needs to retire. Ron Santo was traded to the White Sox, he didn't bolt town and sign with them. He even said his time on the southside was the worst time of his life. But about Favre, this is just getting ridiculous. He's acting like a diva just like Clemens did. If he wants to play for the Vikings because he wants to play football, then they should bring him back. If this return is all about wanting to stick it to the Packers, then they shouldn't, because guess what, there are 14 other games that need to be played
  2. My guess is that it was to get the parts that would be used to get Peavy, but obviously that didn't happen
  3. Who cares? I don't know what you guys would do if you ever actually had to live around here. I'd probably pulverize someone, or I'd be so pissed that I'd move somewhere else
  4. Look at this board, http://southsiders.net/ They love bashing the Cubs in the Around the Majors forum as well, and they even want a F--- the Cubs day: http://www.southsiders.net/index.php?showtopic=18973&pid=342665&st=0entry342665
  5. While we're at it why don't we trade Marquis and sign Sabathia too. how about we also get rid of lee and sign texieria
  6. What a bunch of BS. I'd have given the awards to Woody and Josh Hamilton
  7. White Sox fans are not real fans. They are just Cubs haters who need a team to root for. Until I started posting on the MLB forums and dealing with White Sox fans in person few years ago, I did not care for the White Sox. They don't support the Cubs, why should I support their team? No one has given me a rational reason. And being the bigger man or supporting your city do not count as rational reasons for supporting them
  8. WHY ARE WE SWINGING AT PITCHES AT THE ANKLES!! :banghead: :banghead:
  9. Come on Fukudome. You helped end the longest title drought in Japan, now to do the same here, starting with a jack
  10. BLAAAAAAAAAAAAAAH! YUCK!! :banghead: :banghead: :banghead: :banghead: That's how I feel right now
  11. Come on Marshall, got to hold them here, and then we need to get into that Dodgers pen
  12. You're dam right he does. He is the second coming of VY (in college at least)
  13. Who do you think deserves to win the NL MVP award? Ryan Howard or Albert Pujols? I personally would give the award to Howard just to stick it to Pujols because of his complaining in 2006 that MVP's should only be on playoff teams. If you're going to complain about the system because you lose, then you should also lose because of that system you complained about. If I was a writer and had a vote, I would not vote for Pujols because of his comments
  14. In 2003, I missed a few games because of swim practice. I did skip practice for games 6 and 7 of the NLCS though, and would have done the same for the World Series. Last year, I didn't miss any of the games, but after Chris Young went yard to lead of game 3, I got pissed and didn't bother watching it, watched some college football, then went to the gym. Came back in time to see the end. This year, nothing short of death will stop me from watching this playoff run. I only work on Friday, every Friday gameday will be a day off
  15. Does anyone know if it's been announced and when and where it will be?
  16. My first game was the final game of the 2001 season. I had been into baseball for 3 years at the time.
  17. A lot of sites are mentioning the Tigers trading Ordonez, so I'm sure they're not going to trade Granderson too. Who would take Magglio? They aren't going to get a lot of value for him, and he's due $18Mil next year w/ a 3Mil option. For Granderson, they can possibly do something about that horrible pitching staff they have. We could take Magglio and move Fukudome to centerfield if the Tigers ate some salary, couldn't we? Really depends on what we are able to do with salary this year with the sale in process. We are going to have a pretty big increase just to put the same team back on the field. I don't want to pay Magglio that kind of money for 3 years. Boras made the contract so that the options will basically vest if Ordonez is healthy
  18. So when Ohio State pounds Penn State in The Shoe, we will be added to that list? i see that the usc asswhipping and repeated embarrassments at the hands of the sec haven't made ohio state fans any less arrogant. That's not really arrogant. No more arrogant than pointing out OSU's losses to other teams, when Penn St. has gotten beat down 65-23 in the last 2 years against the same OSU teams you make fun of. You want arrogant, I'll show you arrogant, even classless: http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=inBEd-B7D9I What a waste of perfectly good beer. You got that right off my description for the video, didn't you? That is my video BTW. I didn't shoot it, I found it on YouTube and I ripped it off there before the people who originally made it took it down

  20. If the Cubs go to the WS, win or lose, Chicago is NOT getting the Olympics. Bet on it. Very true. I hope Chicago doesn't get them either. Why spend all this money on crap, when you could spend that money to fix the CTA
  21. I'll take it. Hell if we go 0-162 in 2009, I'd do it in a heartbeat. When winning the World Series, there is a concept called f the future. We are in one of those moments at this time
  22. NEVER!! As much as he has helped us this year, I can never get one. Get a DeRosa one instead
