I just love that Sutcliffe is saying that Murphy had the most important at bat of the inning.

Wouldn't a grand slam over ride it?

That is HORSE542745. Z had Wright struck out three times. foresooth these Howry excuses for umpires.

And I think Carlos has pretty much sealed his spot as the 3rd starter in the playoffs.

Do you think Lou will consider it? Im afraid of Z's reaction to something like that....

Personally, Id rather see Dempster start game 1.

Larry Rothschild is doing a great job right now.

I'd love to hear how this is his fault.

Would it have killed him to walk out to the mound and calm Z down? I'm not blaming him persay, but he has to keep his pitchers, especially Z, in control. That's part of his job as pitching coach.

Seriously, when the Umpire doesn't know what a strike is, what can he do?

Yeah, the ump didn't have much to do with that inning.

Even if Big Z looks sharp the next couple of innings, is there any plausible way that Lou will start him in Game 1 or 2?

Will the board please assure me that this is not going to happen?

As meaningless as the game is, and despite the fact that I still would rather face the Mets in the 1st round than the Brewers in the 2nd, it alwasy sucks to see your "ace" fall apart.

he pulled this crap last year, and was great in his one start in the playoffs

do you still want to play the mets?

Yes. With Zambrano starting game three.

Well, you'll likely get this exact same matchup again.

Better that than have Z start two games in a 5 game series.

Hmm do we even want Z to be out #1 in the playoffs? There's huge cause for concern.

If Harden, Dempster and Lilly pitch like they can and they have all year that Z won't matter that much.

Don't swear, people.

Seriously, are people really upset?

Not that the game matters, but I'm upset when our "ace" cannot find the strike zone, and it would be kinda nice to help the brewers get into the wild card.

It is annoying that he isn't throwing strikes but for all we know he is throwing like it's spring training.

Uhh what? Is that why he's going nuts on the mound?

lol you think it's likely he'll give up 5 runs in his first 3 innings?

i'll take the under, wanna bet?

In fairness to Z, Wolf's zone has been horrible.

Thank you. That's what I was just saying. No consistency. Z could have easlily been out of that inning if the ump was calling the same pitches he was calling two inning prior. Z's stuff actually is pretty good, just got the Howry squeezed out of him by the home plate ump.

I dont see it as a huge cause for concern. Last year, it would be, as after Ted Lilly, Rich Hill would be our next line of defense, but when we have Harden, Dempster, and Lilly, if Z wants to pitch like a #3 or #4, so be it.

Well it's your fault for thinking that Zambrano is the ace of this staff.

They're not gonna face the Brewers in the second. And if they do, you should thank your lucky stars.

And what on earth scares you so much about the Brewers over the Mets?

The Mets have the second highest scoring offense in the NL. Why do people pretend like offense doesn't exist when talking playoff matchups?

The Brewer rotation is also a mess after CC.

I'm more concerned with the lack of offense.

Oh dear Lord!!! They scored 8 in the first game and got shut down by Santana last night, other than that the offense has been decent enough lately.

This thread has a bunch of whinners tonight.

Seriously paople...seriously. Whether its conscious or sub conscious, the players dont have their all in this game, and why would they? Most of these guys should have the night off. Everytime the situation has called for it, theyve come through. When October rolls around, their teeth will be sharpened, and they'll come back. They always come back. Until then, let the Mets fans enjoy themselves.

Well, for the Cubs this is about as meaningful as one.
